THE PLAY AT THE ZANKOVETSKY Nicholas has decided to go off for walk early on a rare sunny Sunday afternoon in early March. As he reached Ivan Franko Park near the university, his cell phone began to vibrate. He answered it before it started ringing, and it was his actress friend Vira. The signal was so strong, as if he were right underneath a cell tower, that he couldn’t really hear what she was saying because of the distortion. There must have been some kind of magnetic boost of the signal by something in that part of the park. It was far from the television tower on High Castle Mountain that dominated the skyline. So that couldn’t have been it. And he didn’t see any cell phone towers in the immediate area – just the tall status of Ivan Franko overlooking the park and the university name
