Chapter Twenty-Six The middle of summer meant unbearably hot temperatures in Vegas. We walked the strip, sweating in the over-one-hundred degree weather. I kept chugging my gigantic bottle of water and pressing it to my forehead, the cool moisture a welcome relief. “Let’s go back to the hotel and go swimming,” Lacey said.
