The rain started ten minutes after Elena left the office. Of course it did. Because apparently the universe had decided peace was optional. Her taxi didn’t show. Then the second one cancelled. Then her phone died at 6%. “Perfect,” she muttered, staring at the empty street. That’s when the black car pulled up. Again. Alessandro rolled down the window. “You planning to stand in the rain all night?” he asked.
