"Hey,"Someone whispered and Sainapei opened her eyes slowly and saw a young beautiful lady beside her.
Sainapei was on a small high bed and she tried sitting up but,
" Ouch, it hurts." she said touching her left shoulder that was bandaged with a white piece of cloth and lady helped her lie down.
" Just rest , no need to stress yourself." the lady said kindly.
" But where am I?" she asked looking at the white walls of the small room.
"My husband is a police officer, he's the one who brought you here because you were severely hurt. But don't worry, you'll be fine." the lady said with a smile that made Sainapei feel like all was well.
" My mother and step mother, I miss them, they both died from the attack. I thought I would too be gone but it looks like fate just gave me a second chance." Sainapei now remembered all that had happened and tears run down from her eyes.
" Don't worry, I'm here for you. By the way, I'm Lisa, " the lady introduced herself trying to comfort her though it wasn't easy.
" Sainapei." she said after calming down.
"How old are you Sainapei?" Lisa asked.
" I'm eight years old." she replied.
"Take a nap and you will be better sooner than you know it. " Lisa said then gave her a kiss on the forehead.
Sainapei then closed her eyes and fell into a deep sleep hopping to be better as soon as she wakes up . Lisa looked at her feeling very sorry and worried about Sainapei. She was only eight and had already lost her mother and sounded like a father had never been part of her life. Poor kid. A tear then fell off Lisa's eye and she smiled. She was ready. Ready to take Sainapei to be hers, to take care of her and make her feel happy once again.
"Please have some, it will give you strength.". Lisa said giving Sainapei a bowl of soup when she woke up.
"Thank you." Sainapei said with a shy smile.
"We are going home today." Lisa said when Sainapei was still having her soup.
"Sure?" She was a little tensed.
" Yes, I will take care of all the necessary paper work then come help you get ready."
Sainapei just nodded still having her chicken soup. She thought of the words " we are going home today," knowing she had never had one of her own with her family back then. Her life was spent in her mother's womb, a forest and a camp that had ended with her family's death.
When Lisa came back, she helped her dress up the pair of clothes she had brought her while still in the hospital. They had nothing to pack since the clothes she had in her past life, had already been disposed.
They walked down a few flights of stairs then got to the entrance of the hospital building. They signed out at the reception then walked out. A blue Prado was awaiting them and they got inside. Sainapei then remembered the first time they boarded a vehicle, two years ago, with Wanjiku.Sainapei had no idea if this was the same town near the camp though it looked bigger than the description the teachers at the camp gave.
"This is a boutique." Lisa said when they got to a big room full of every kind of clothes.
Sainapei looked everywhere mesmerized by the beautiful colours and designs of the many clothes in the boutique. Lisa then helped her choose as many clothes as she could. They were nothing like what her mother and Sintoyia worn. They bought shoes and any other sought of thing Lisa thought Sainapei needed.
From there, they went to a place Sainapei later learnt was a salon. So much was done to her there. Her hair was washed and plaited beautifully. Her toes and nails were scrubbed gently with warm water then polished beautifully with a red polisher.
"I look astonishing!" Sainapei said standing on the mirror when the experts were done working on her.
" Yes, you are." Lisa was so happy to see her jovial again.
" Thank you." she ran and embraced Lisa who was now the happiest woman in the world.
Sainapei was looking like a queen. They then went to a fancy restaurant and had their specially made lunch.
