"Nasieku, just try harder, you can make it. I do understand what you went through, but you have to be stronger. That man really deserved what's you gave him."Sintoyia said trying to encourage her, but she could no longer say a word to respond. She only nodded and Sintoyia knew that all she wanted was to disappear from this evil world that made her suffer every single time. The pain Nasieku felt was unbearable, but she had to do it, at least for her child's sake. Though it was getting tough, she had to be tougher. All she wanted was to see her baby grow, to make sure it's life doesn't end up like hers. The pain, suffering and torture she had gone through, could never end with her child's death and so she tried all she could to ensure it lives.
They walked silently to what had been her grandmother's home and luckily, they found that the villegers had already buried her and performed all the necessary rituals. She fell right on her grandmother's grave and all she could do, was stare with dead eyes. There were no more tears to shade, no more sounds to mourn. To even add salt to the injury, Ole Kule had grabbed the only land that was owned by Nasieku's late family and made it his. What a monster he was.
"Remember this is no longer your family's property, so we just have to continue moving." Sintoyia said taking Nasieku's hand to help her walk.
They walked slowly for long hours and Nasieku could no longer bear it. It was then that Sintoyia noticed she had been bleeding fo sometime. She screamed from the pain though nothing was heard. Sintoyia then helped her lie on the grass. The baby wanted to come out. The pressure and great movement by Nasieku had caused great contraction. She was unable, but desperate and determined to have the baby right away.
"You have to rest to gain some strength." Sintoyia said after calming her down seeing how sleepy she was.
She then covered her with her with one of the shukas thay were carrying. Nasieku nodded then closed her eyes and fell into a deep sleep wanting to forget all that had happened and was happening. How her life had been since her parents died, the initiation and the marriage that left her on her own with no one to look upto, only a co wife who was now like a mother to her. She vowed that her child will never go through the same, ever, as long as she was alive. She then opened her eyes and found Sintoyia beside her.
"Have these, they will help you alot."she said handing her some wild fruits she had collected.
"Ashe." Nasieku thanked her, now able to speak.
It dawned and their long undestined journey had to continue. They had not gone too far and the morans from their village would find them easily. They passed through a number of unfamiliar villages borrowing food and water. Nasieku's condition was to their advantage and so they were given more than enough to satisfy them. Nasieku became stronger everyday and so was her unborn child. They would never go back to that monster no matter what. They were also given some traditional medicines for Nasieku when the time comes for her to deliver. They were so happy and greatful to them all.
They now had hope and it was two weeks already since they escaped and in one night, Nasieku's labour pains started. She was in pain almost the whole night, screaming to the top of her voice. Sintoyia tried her best since they had to save the baby, but guess what.....
