Dinner finally got them up, and when they’d finished cleaning, they moved into the living room.
Jarod turned on the TV as they sat on the couch. Not finding anything either wanted to watch, they settled on a cable news show.
Five minutes in, Ty asked, “Do you want to play chess?”
“Sure. This time I can’t let you win, though.” Jarod winked at Ty.
Ty laughed. “I think I’ll survive.”
He set up the board, and they played only half-listening to the news. Then a story caught their attention.
