Chapter 8

Eva was practically shaking with fear by the time she reached her room. She collapsed and began to cry pathetically. After she was excused from his room, Eva ran to her room in panic and despair.

" He is crazy.. He is crazy.."

" He is going to hurt me tonight.. No"

" I have to escape this mad place.. but how?"

This mansion was heavily guarded by guards, outside and inside. It's impossible to exit this place without master's permission. Even worse, this mansion was surrounded by dense forest and wild animals. Even if she escapes this house, she will be eaten by some wild animals that inhabit the forest.

She can't ask permission to leave. Surely he wouldn't let her get away from the doom he had prepared. Can anyone help her leave this place? The answer is a big 'no'. Here everyone is scarred of their master.

As Eva was losing her hope, a name suddenly entered her mind, making her squeal with determination.

Eva frantically rushed out of her room and searched for Clara. Since cell phones are restricted in this place, there must be a way to contact someone outside. Finally, she found her, cleaning the staircase.

" Clara!"

Clara was shocked when she saw Eva rushing towards her with panicked eyes. Eva stopped before her and panted like crazy due to the excessive running.

" Clara.. Clara, you have to .. help...me"

" Shhh... slow down, not here."

Clara looked around the place and grabbed Eva's hand.

"If someone saw us talking here, they would snitch us to Martha and I am not in the mood to deal with her."

Clara took her to a secluded place in the mansion and asked

" Now tell me what happened? And how do I help you?"

Eva opened her mouth to say everything their master had done to her, but decided against it. She doesn't want Clara to judge her like other maids here. So she lied.

" I.. Please, I have to contact someone outside soon"

Clara: " But for what? Did you face any problems here? You can tell me"

Eva shook her head. "Please not now. I will answer all your questions later. Now tell me, I have to contact my friend as soon as possible."

Clara gave a puzzled look but didn't pry her for answers.

" You can ask Martha, we have to get her permission to make a phone call. And she will allow us once a week to make a call"

Eva nodded her head. " I am going to find her."

Clara watched Eva's back with narrowed eyes.

Eva searched for Martha and finally found her in her room and she was talking to someone in a hushed tone.

" Alright Xavier, be careful. If this plan fails, we will both go down."

'What plan?' Eva thought, but she dismissed it. She is not here for that. She needed to contact Alexander immediately. She waited for Martha to finish her call and knocked on the door, informing of her presence.

" Madam"

Martha looked shocked but composed herself and glared at Eva. ' For how long was she standing there? Did she hear anything? No one should know about her plans'. She motioned Eva to come inside and decided to ask her directly. If Eva heard her conversation with Xavier, she would threaten to fire her to make her silent.

"When did you arrive? Did you hear anything?"

Eva swallowed her dry throat. She was sure that conversation was not meant to be heard by anyone.

" No madam, I didn't hear anything. I just arrived here" Eva waited for Martha to say something and sighed with relief as Martha got her answer with a satisfied look. And then the look turned accusingly at her.

" What are you doing here? Why are you not working at this time?"

" I came to find you madam. I have to contact someone outside." Eva hoped in her heart that Martha would agree without asking further questions. But her hopes were crushed by Martha's cold words.

" No girl, you are not allowed to call. Every maid can call their family once a week. So you have to wait till Sunday to make a call"

Eva didn't give up and still pursued

" Madam, please, this is an emergency.. Please just one call"

Martha looked at the pathetic girl and sighed inwardly, she could give her a chance to make a phone call. It's not a big matter to her, but she doesn't want to do it for this girl. She wanted Eva to know that she was higher than her. Even though Aiden is smitten by Eva

, she can't have her thinking, she has some importance in this house. Martha was waiting for her to make one mistake. One mistake and she will have her out of this mansion and Aiden's life.

" If it was an emergency, you can ask Master. Since you seduced him, he will surely allow you."

Eva clenched her fist to refrain herself from lashing out at Martha. She doesn't want to beg her anymore. It's clear that this woman hates her and she is showing her hatred openly too. She will figure out a way to contact Alex.

" Sure Madam, not one call, he may even buy a new phone for me."

Eva turned around and left her room arrogantly. She knows Martha is now fuming with anger and that strangely gave her a satisfied feeling. She can't have anyone stepping on her anymore.

AT KITCHEN

" Ahhh.. It hurts.."

Hearing Eva's scream, everyone rushed inside the kitchen. Clara was first to arrive.

"Oh God, how did it happen!"

There Eva was crying while clutching her hand with blood flowing from her wound. Eva purposely slit her hand and made it look like an accident. The wound hurts like hell, but it's worth it. Anything to escape from this wretched place and the master. Moreover, she has to avoid meeting him tonight.

" What is happening here?"

The dark voice of their master made everyone scramble away from Eva. They bowed to him respectfully and looked at the floor. Eva's scream bought him there.

Eva froze in her place. Hearing Aiden's voice awakened a fearful feeling in her heart.

' why him? What is going to happen?"
