Chapter 29:

Selina's POV

I immediately recognized who the guy who had just appeared was. While I was panicking, he rushed into the middle of the thugs, throwing a powerful fist that scared them to death. The leader clutched his punched cheek, blood ran down his chin, he looked at Adam, then back at me, then angrily walked away.

I breathed a sigh of relief, although my body was still aching, but at least I knew I was safe for the time being. I turned to look at the tall guy.

"Thank you, Adam."

"Are you okay? Do you need me to take you to the infirmary?"

I didn't want to bother him, so I immediately shook my head.

"It's okay, I can go by myself. If you have something to do, go ahead."

I think Adam will agree and leave. But contrary to my thoughts, he came over and squatted down in front of me.

"Your leg is injured, you shouldn't exercise much now. Climb up, I'll carry you to the infirmary."

I have not had much contact with Adam, through Bella's story, I only know that he is a hot-tempered and rude person. He looked unapproachable, his cold face and sharp eyes always made others feel fear. It's not unusual for him to be the leader of a school gang.

Although he often causes fights, Adam is loved by a part of students, because he loves to defend the weak. I don't know if Adam knows I'm Bella's best friend, but with his personality, even if he doesn't know who I am, he will help because I'm weak. So I hesitated for a few seconds and then climbed on his back, because honestly my whole body was sore, especially my knees were bleeding profusely.

Adam saw that I was sitting carefully before he stood up. His arms wrapped around my elbows and pressed against his stomach, a polite gesture that made me feel a little more comfortable, especially when I had just met a man with unbearable disgust.

We didn't say anything the whole way, and when we got to the infirmary, I thanked him again. He just nodded and stood there watching the nurse help me disinfect and apply medicine. After about five minutes, Adam left the infirmary, I think he was done with his work, and I just need to wait a little less pain before I have to go back to class. I still have class this afternoon, an important class that can't be missed, while I haven't had time to eat lunch yet. Now I feel tired and sore and hungry at the same time, what an unlucky day.

I lay on the recliner with my eyes closed for a moment, but then suddenly I smelled a fragrance that filled the room. The taste made my stomach rumble. Adam walked into the room, placing the lunch box that was emitting a fragrant aroma in front of me.

"You haven't had lunch, have you? I just bought rice at the canteen, you should eat it first."

I roll my eyes at him, somehow Adam knows I haven't had lunch. Besides, he and I don't know each other, why does he care so much about me? I don't like to receive unconditional help from strangers, just now he helped me, I was thinking how to repay. Now that I accept this good idea, I owe him even more.

"You already helped me earlier, do you want anything? I want to thank you for your help."

Adam casually sat down in the chair across from me, looked at me for a moment, then went straight to the point.

"I know you're Bella's best friend. If you want to repay me, then help me pursue her."

Without thinking, I shook my head immediately. Turns out he knew I was Bella's best friend. Even though he helped me, I couldn't help but think that he wanted to use that to make Bella give in. If that's the case, then Adam is probably not as good a person as I thought.

I can't repay him this way. Bella doesn't like him, I can't let my best friend get into a predicament.

"It's up to you and me to help me, I can't help you pursue Bella, if she likes you then of course will accept to be your girlfriend, otherwise I won't be able to help."

I answered frankly. I thought Adam would be angry at the rejection, but he just nodded in understanding, then changed the subject.

"You really like Bella, don't you? Are you really serious, not just a lust for conquest?"

Adam pondered for a moment, then nodded to show he understood.

"I won't fight her anymore. Although fighting a strong opponent is my hobby."

I nodded.
