Senna’s POV The river was lower than yesterday. I noticed it the moment we stepped through the forest. The current moved slower. It dragged over exposed stones. “Stay behind me,” I told Thor and Thistle. We had left our ridge to go out foraging for firewood. The nights were chilly and we relied on the warmth of a fire to get a proper sleep. Thistle hovered close behind me, his sleeve brushing mine every few steps. He kept looking at the trees with worried eyes, like something might peel out of the bark at any moment. Who knew? Maybe it would.
