It was past the closing time , and everyone was gone home, well, excluding my boss . But I could care less , ever since his fiancée caught us hugging, well more like him hugging me , he has ignored me , calling the other secretary he always refused to work with instead of me . Well , I guess his stance has been declared . I packed my things , turned off my office lights and exited the company premises , speeding, as a way of trying to forget the day’s events . I sighed , it was such a pity my love life always has twists and turns but I guess everything is for the greater good . My phone ringing brought me back to reality, ‘ Kaleb’ my male best friend and my colleague at work , we just don’t talk much at work because of our schedules ‘ hey babes ‘ I greeted and he giggled “ I have told you countless times , anytime you call me that , I forget we are friends “ He said and I also chuckled “ get used to it then “ I joked

“ anyways still at work?”He asked “ Nope on my way home “ I replied “ how about a detour to my place, got your fave Pastries “ He suggested obviously using the pastries as a bargaining chip “ will be there in 10 “ I said and hang up “ Kaleb and I have had this connection ever since we met as kids , so like we have known each other for years . I got Ice-cream and soon I was at his apartment . I barged in like I owned the place and saw him relaxed on the couch with a plate of cake Slices “ starting without me , rude “ I said and rolled my eyes . He stood up and kissed me on my cheek “ sassy as always “ He took the package i brought to the kitchen as I settled into the couch

“ Babes , I have missed you “ I said stretching “ and yet you were going home without calling me “ He feigned annoyance. I rolled my eye , “ who is becoming to nagging Princess now?” I questioned and we both burst into laughter

We spent the rest of the night eating, watching movies, and gossiping , and honestly i was very tired , my whole body ached

“ see you tomorrow, bye , Iove ya “ He screamed after me as I drove off . It took me a great amount of strength to get my myself to my apartment and just as I was getting comfy enough to fall asleep, there was a knock on my door “ f**k “ I screamed and dragged my self off the bed to check who the person was . And to both my surprise and annoyance , it was Chase . I rolled my eyes , refusing to look him in the eye.

“ Sir, it is very inappropriate to come to your secretary’s house at this ungodly hour, “I said looking at the wall clock at the entrance corridor . “ mmm… like the way you went to your secret boyfriends place ..??” he said sarcastically. Ummm … what the hell ?! “ my what …??” l was shocked to find out I was had a secret boyfriend who was a even a secret to myself . Oh… oh I sense some blame shifting s**t over here “ Skyla , don’t pretend , you have a boyfriend and yet you are pretending to love me “ He continues obviously pissed . But I was taking no one’s s**t this time . I slapped him hard across his face . “ Mr. Chase Andersons , if you drove all the way to f*****g insult me then leave ! He showed me a picture of Kaleb and I hugging . I laughed “ oh so now you are spying on me “ I questioned sounding very disappointed “ tell me Skyla … Is this true or not ?” he questioned sounding very angry. When I arrived , just as I had suspected , he was hurt , stabbed in the stomach rather deeply . Tears clouded my eye as I rushed him to the hospital . “ stay with me … Kaleb “ I shouted after him s he was rushed to the emergency room. God! I can’t lose him , not at this moment. No.. no … the words kept playing in my head , I did not realize when I had fallen asleep. A gentle tap on the shoulders woke me up, it was a nurse , the one who sent Kaleb into the emergency room. “ how is he ?” I rushed up immediately” all stitched up, was nothing serious , he’s in recovery ward , you can see him “ I quickly rushed in and when I saw his eye open , I rushed into his arms .” God ! I got scared you know ?” I said giving him a little punch on his shoulder “ ouch” he feigned pain “ what happened ?” I asked this time serious , settling into a chair beside him . “ I don’t know , i met the big boss downstairs while trashing the bin , and he warned me to stay away from you , which became a little disagreement between us , before I could say anything else , there was a sharp pain in my stomach, then I realized he had stabbed me , he drove away even before I could react “ He narrated his story and I was shocked , and angry at the same time .CHASE DID THIS ?! I tried wrapping my head around all this but I just couldn’t. “ okay sorry for all this tho “ I apologized but he just nodded “ rest I will see you tomorrow “ I kissed his forehead and left the hospital , still confused , chase did this ?’ that Was the only question on my mind as I drove home
