Paula's POV. Christian shrugged. "Let's just say I know a lot more about you than you think." He didn't give an accurate answer and I almost bit my tongue in frustration. "So? What do you say? Are you in or out?" Christian smirked and I huffed, getting up from the chair, walking towards the exit. "Yes, asshole. I will sign the contract tomorrow." I slammed the door hard behind me, trying to block out his annoying laughter. As soon as I stepped out of his building, the press surrounded me immediately. "Mrs Baker, are the wedding rumors true?" A reporter pushed her microphone in front of my mouth as my palm sweated. "You and Mr. Cole have been in a secret relationship since when?" Another reporter asked and the questions continued, till my guards emerged and got me out of the toxic situation. I couldn't believe it. How did they know about everything within such a short period? Just then my parents came to mind and I dug my nails into my palm. Only them could leak this news out. They wanted to trap me at all costs. Throughout the following week, it was the marriage between Christian and I that was trending and that boosted both companies alot. Our business seemed back on it's feet and we were at number 3 now but Dad still wasn't satisfied. Most business people continued to invest in my company all because two great business rivals decided to show their romance to the world. In the meantime, Christian and I had to meet often and it was hell. We had to parade ourselves, pretending to be in love and all. We even had to attend annoying interviews together where Christian would tease me. "You should move closer, otherwise people might suspect this fake relationship." Christian leaned to whisper in my ears during our modeling Photoshop. I shivered as he licked my earlobe in the process, resisting the urge to slap him across the face as the cameras flashed at us. "Aww, they are so cute." "I can't believe that they would one day come together." "Who would expect the two greatest youngest rivals to be engaged?" "They look so f*****g good together." Whispers flowed around, surprisingly making a knot tie in my stomach. I could feel my heart racing especially when Christian would touch me or peck me on the cheeks. 'What were these weird feelings?' I pondered as a huge lump formed in my throat. The next day was the D-day. Our engagement party and I wasn't sure I was ready for all of these, it was happening way too fast. "We would have to move in together after the engagement tomorrow." Christian suddenly said from behind me and I jumped, my eyes widening. "What the hell!" I cursed and he chuckled. "What? Did I scare you?" "Shut the f**k up." I sneered and he raised both hands in surrender. "Sorry, though it was fun watching you jump like a frog." He laughed and I reared forward to punch him but he evaded me immediately. "Aww. They are having lover's quarrel." One of the assistants rounding up the photoshoot said and her friends agreed. "I know right. They also look so cute." Her friend giggled and I wondered just how stupid these people were. Couldn't they see all these was fake? Christian and I were the worst actors ever. "They think we look Divine together." Christian winked as I stopped chasing him, trying to catch my breath. The fool was too fast. "You wish." I faked a smile at him. "So what do you say?" He turned serious, folding his arms across his chest. "About?" I narrowed my eyes at him and he rolled his eyes. "About us moving together tomorrow, after the engagement party." He said and I scoffed. "Impossible." I told him and he just stared at me. "We don't have a choice. People are going to be suspicious about couples in love who are engaged but aren't staying together." Christian told me. "They are already even suspicious which means we have to act better." Christian pointed out and I thought he made sense for once in his life. "Alright but there shall be boundaries and separate rooms." I told him and he wrinkled his nose. "Absolutely. Who would wanna share his room and things with Paula pig?" Christian snickered, using the nick-name he formally does use for me, even back at school. "You bastard." I raged, taking off my shoes and pursuing him round the studio with the heels while the people still around, took shots and muttered continuously about how adorable we were. ....... ....... I stared at myself in the mirror, unable to believe how gergeous I looked, with my hair styled with diamond pins. I was wearing a long, overflowing, dinner gown. It was armless and brought curves I had no idea that I had. "Someone looks pretty." I heard an annoying voice behind me and turned around with a sigh to see Lucia walking into my room, with Paul trailing behind her. "What's up, sis?" Paul, my twin waved with an evil grin and I knew instantly they were up to something. "What does the both of you want?" I placed my hand on my hips. "Nothing. Can't we come to wish you happiness for your D-day?" Lucia questioned with a pout and I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, right. That would only happen when the sky turns pink." I told them and Paul smirked. "Atleast you are not dumb." Lucia moved closer to me. "What do you want?" I asked again, not in the mood to entertain their craziness tonight. "Whoa! Chill, it's not like you have a real engagement to get to." Lucia mocked and a shiver ran down my spine. Watching the glee in Paul's face, I knew immediately they were onto something. "What do you two mean?" I gulped down the saliva gathering in my mouth, trying to convince myself it was nothing and I was just being paranoid. "We know your dirty, little secret." Lucia played with her wavy hair while I went pale. "Yes. This engagement is fake isn't it? Both you and Christian are fooling everyone. I wonder what the press will have to say about this or Dante when he realizes he was tricked?" Paul sneered and my blood turned cold. "Would the family still deem you fit to be the heir?" Paul mocked, clenching his fists and probably remembering how he was ignored to lead and I w as chosen instead despite having my own business. But how the hell did these two brats know I lied to everyone?
