Paula's POV.
"As the heir, you always have to be ready for every situation." I remembered my dad's words and just then, it hit me.
"Where is your proof?" I folded my arm across my chest and their confidence faltered, when they saw me raising my head proudly.
"What does that have to do with you?" Paul scowled and I noticed his eyes twitching meaning either there was no proof or they were guessing.
I couldn't blame them though. Christian and I were unbelievable so these fools probably thought they could manipulate the truth out of me to use against me.
Too bad it backfired.
I laughed within.
"We do have proofs and you have to follow our terms if you don't want them out there." Lucia sneered and I laughed.
"Go ahead please." I told them and all the colors drained out of their faces while I grabbed my golden purse from the bed.
"Now if you would excuse me, I have an engagement party to attend." I winked at them and exited my room with them in there.
They could search all they wanted but would find nothing that would implicate me there. My stuff was already parked for departure. I walked down the stairs to see important, rich guests had started to arrive.
My parents stood at the entrance as the hosts, welcoming each and everyone of them. I sighted Christian beside them and felt my heart skip a beat.
He was dressed in a three piece suit and his hair was braided. He looked so dashing. Just then, the piano started playing, announcing my arrival.
The engagement party was chosen to be hosted in my parents' mansion since Christian and I insisted on nothing too loud or fancy. Christian walked up to me and with a smile, stretched his hand for me to take.
I gently placed my hand in his and he held me with care, leading me down the stairs and rubbing circles on my hand with his fingers.
Weird feelings bottled up in me and I struggled to keep my eyes off him.
"Keep gawking and I would take it that you are in love with me." Christian said and I fought the urge to scoff, rolling my eyes.
"Even a gorilla looks better than you." I told him and I felt his grip on my hand tightening.
Awww. Did I hit a nerve?
"Atleast I don't look like a dirty pig." He mocked and rage burned in my veins as I immediately removed my hand from his, wanting to slap him.
"Easy there wifey, we are in love, remember?" He winked and I dropped my hand, noticing everyone was beginning to stare at us with furrowed eyebrows.
One of them was my dad who had a suspicious look on his face. I gritted my teeth against one another and walked away from Christian who burst into laughter.
I tried to ignore him and the party went on smoothly. I actually had a little fun, until the part where we were to kiss, after sliding the rings into one another's fingers.
"Kiss, kiss, kiss." Everyone chanted and I froze, a lump gathering in my throat.
"I would rather die than kiss you." I whispered to him and he chuckled.
"It's not as if I wanna taste dirt either." He threw back the insult at me and I dug my nails into his palm but got no reaction from him.
I looked towards my parents who looked teary, especially my mum as my dad pecked her forehead while my siblings watched me with a smirk, waiting for me to flop.
That made me determined to crush them. Too bad, they were in for a shock.
Christian leaned in, his heavy breath on my face as we stared deep into one another's eyes. Butterflies fluttered in my stomach and I found myself moving closer to him.
"Can I?" He asked as he wrapped his hand around my waist, bringing me closer to him, our chest pressed against one another.
"Yes." I gulped and he immediately crushed his lips on mine, earning a gasp and cheers from the people around us.
"Yes, yes, yes." But we didn't pay attention to all that, rather our lips muddled together like we were in heat.
He licked my lower lips, granting permission to enter my mouth with his tongue as his grip around my waist tightened. His lips muddled into mine and he took all my breath away.
We gasped, pulling away from one another after the kiss. My heart pounded heavily against my chest as I watched the look of desire flowing in his eyes.
His lips tasted like chocolate and I felt the urge to have a taste again but coughed as I looked away instead, not minding his hand that was still around my waist.
My siblings looked like they had been punched in the guts and it was my turn to smirk at them. With that, the engagement ended.
I said goodbye to my parents, my things packed and already in Christian's boot as I hugged my mother tightly.
"Behave well." She warned and pecked me for the last time, before letting me go to Christian who already started the car.
"It's a shame your parents couldn't make it." I told him and Christian grinned.
"Don't worry about it. They sent their blessings and might come back to the country with gifts for their daughter-in-law." Christian winked and I looked away immediately, remembering the kiss.
Christian's parents were in Greece, heading a new business. They are such a nice, lovely people and it's a pity Christian is their son.
"What about your brother?" I questioned and watched Christian's expression tightened like I had touched a sore topic.
When he didn't answer my question, I cleared my throat and said nothing again till we arrived at his mansion and he showed me my room, before disappearing.
I slept throughout the night, so f*****g tired and in the next morning, Christian kept ignoring me. It was so f*****g annoying so I decided to teach him a lesson as I watched a new friend I just made, Jessica.
She was one of the maids and was making lunch for Christian's business guests.
"Let me serve them." I told her, taking the tray from her hand and she smiled in gratitude, making her heart ping from guilt as I remembered what I was about to do.
Before I reached the dinning room, I brought out the laxatives I had prepared down and poured almost everything into Christian's bowl. He was so going to pay.
I walked into the vast dining room which was decorated beautifully. It stretched endlessly, with a long table filled with unfamiliar faces. Some were young, some were old.
I walked closer and saw him sitting at the very, edge of the table like the boss he was.
His eyes settled on me as I moved closer to where he was, dropping the tray and proceeding to serve some arrogant fools, while some were actually decent enough to do it themselves.
As I went about my role, I felt uncomfortable, like my back was on fire or my body was itching, due to his intense stare.
"Is this your wife? She is so beautiful." One of them commented as he licked his lower lips lustfully.
I winked my face in disgust, noticing instantly that these people were not from this country at all. They were foreigners, no wonder they did not recognize me and had no sign of respect.
Just then I felt the same stare on me and turned only to see, to my disappointment that it wasn't Christian. He was too busy eating.
I dug my nails into my palm, unable to wait for him to disgrace him in front of everyone but then I noticed the bowl I had served him wasn't the one I poured the laxatives.
My heart skipped a beat from fear and I tried not to panic as I watched everyone eating, trying to find out which bowl.
I finally found it an
d breathed out a sigh of relief but whom I saw eating it, while looking at me was a familiar face.
It was.....
