“Adrian… I need to talk to you right now!” Cassandra burst into Adrian’s study without knocking. Her face was pale, her breath ragged as if she had been running. She clutched her small bag so tightly her knuckles were white, and her eyes were restless—unable to meet his directly. Adrian, seated behind the large desk, regarded her coolly. “What now, Cassandra? I don’t have much time.” She stepped closer, her voice trembling. “I… I know Rosemary just came here. She accused me of all sorts of things, didn’t she?” Adrian sighed and leaned back in his chair, his gaze sharp. “So you knew she would accuse you?” Cassandra swallowed hard, tension etched on her face. “Of course I did. That woman… she’s always looking for reasons to bring me down. I can imagine the lies she’s told you.” Adrian
