For a moment they simply stood there.
Then that same strange warmth from the night before returned.
Stronger this time.
Aria felt it first.
A gentle pull in her chest.
Her silver energy flickered slightly.
Kael noticed immediately.
“You felt it again.”
She nodded slowly.
“Yeah.”
Neither of them moved.
The connection lingered between them like invisible threads.
Aria looked down briefly before meeting his eyes again.
“This mate bond thing…”
Kael chuckled quietly.
“Still sounds weird when you say it.”
She smirked.
“Very weird.”
“But not impossible.”
Aria tilted her head slightly.
“You believe it?”
Kael hesitated.
Then he answered honestly.
“I believe something is happening.”
The silver light around Aria’s fingers slowly faded.
She stepped down from the platform.
“So what do we do about it?”
Kael shrugged.
“Nothing.”
Aria blinked.
“Nothing?”
“We focus on what matters right now.”
He gestured toward the temple.
“You learning to control your power.”
Then toward the distant mountains beyond the walls.
“And stopping Vargan.”
Aria nodded slowly.
“That’s fair.”
But the warmth between them didn’t fade.
If anything…
It grew stronger.
Aria walked past him toward the temple entrance and looked out at the vast mountain landscape.
Clouds drifted slowly across the sky below the peaks.
It was peaceful.
For now.
Kael joined her at the doorway.
“You know,” he said quietly, “this might be the last quiet moment we get for a while.”
Aria glanced at him.
“Probably.”
She looked back toward the mountains.
Somewhere out there, Vargan was building an army.
Preparing for war.
Aria clenched her hand.
Silver light flickered faintly across her fingers again.
“Then we better use the time we have.”
Kael nodded.
“Agreed.”
