I felt the mind-link with Liam disconnect, and Charly doubled over in pain, falling to her knees as we heard Noah's howling. The entire pack echoed his cry, their sorrow palpable. I was trying to process the fact that Liam was dead when Charly stood up and ran towards the house.
Danielle and Poppy started running behind her, and I quickly grabbed them both. “Get inside the car!” I screamed. As they were getting in, we heard a roar from inside the house. It wasn't a wolf's roar.
The answer soon came as Poppy pointed out something leaping in the backyard. “Is that a jaguar?” she muttered as a big black feline came dashing out into the night, followed by an even bigger black and silver wolf.
