If I Fell

Logan turns to walk down the stairs and back up to her house. When she is walking however she doesn’t notice the rock until she goes barreling down the stairs and lands face first on the concrete. Logan starts to slowly sit up but by the time she does Michael is already buy her side with a very intense face that is displaying a look plagued with concern. For the most part Logan is fine she has scratches on her knees and arms but no blood there. However, there is a deep gash on Logan’s forehead creating a crimson stream flowing steadily down the side of her face and on to the concrete below. Logan starts to stand however Michael will not permit that and swiftly picks her up in his arms and carries her into his apartment. He brings her to a white marble countertop and gently sets her down. Her but hits the counter top as lightly as if he was setting down glass instead of a now light headed Logan. Michael leaves the room for a minute or two and when he returns he has a very extensive first aid kit and a washcloth soaked in warm water. He sets down the first aid kit and starts washing the blood off of Logan’s face with the washcloth. It takes quite a while to wash off all the blood especially because Michael was wiping a steady stream of crimson blood that was still gushing from the newly inflicted wound. After about half an hour of wiping blood, disinfecting the cut, applying gauze, and wrapping bandage Logan’s head is fixed to an extent. In order to break the awkward silence that has fallen over the room like a heavy fog, Michael starts talking again.  “So, how are you feeling? I still think you should go to a doctor to get it checked out. Although I am a doctor I didn’t have all of the supplies with me and you should get a CT scan to be safe.”  “I am feeling fine and I will go later. So, you’re a doctor?”  “Yeah, I am a cardiothoracic surgeon.” Logan could tell Michael loves his work by the way he lights up just mentioning what he does. “That’s sounds cool. Can you explain what that is in English please?”  Michael lets out a small chuckle that makes Logan blush; his smile could light up a room but his laugh. There are no words to describe his laugh.  “A cardiothoracic surgeon specializes with the organs in the chest such as you heart and lungs.”  “Wow! I can’t even bandage a wound properly. Then your over here being a flipin’ surgeon. Just wow!”  “It’s not that impressive. I’m sure your job is awesome!”  “I am a personal secretary to a very rude man. It is not very awesome to be filing paperwork all day.”  “That would be so cool you get to go on business trips, assist in the company, and make your boss shut up when you do so well at your job.”  “Thanks Michael you almost make it seem like a glamorous job.”  “Anytime!”  “Any way I should be going now thank you for everything I will see you around.”  “See you around, Logan.” Before exiting the house she looks over her shoulder to see a smiling and waving Michael leaning on a countertop. After Logan exits the house she lets her smile fade and a heavy sigh escapes from her lips as she walks to her house. Once she opens the door she hears laughter filling the house.  “Alex, what’s so funny?”  “You totally ate the concrete right in front of the hot new neighbor.”  “I know I was there.” Logan says that sarcastically while adding an eye roll for the full dramatic effect. Alex scoffs at Logan’s attempt to be sassy.   “Wait…” Alex starts “You get off work at seven o’ clock it takes you fifteen minutes to get home. It is now eight-thirteen. You were at his house for almost an hour?!?!”  “You solved another case, Detective Alex. Your math has also improved, but nothing happened. ” Logan chuckles at both her own sarcasm and Alex’s surprise  “Don’t laugh at me, my shock is justified. Let me get this straight you won’t go on a blind date no matter how hard I try. Then a hot guy moves in next door and you spend one unsupervised hour at his house of your own free will? Who are you and what have you done to Logan?” At this they both start hysterically laughing after that it takes Logan a few minutes to compose herself enough respond.”  “You are correct, however take into account this is me we are talking about. I brought over cookies, said welcome to the neighborhood, and ate the concrete as you once put. After that all he did was bandage me up. Like I said nothing happened.” Even as she says nothing happened her face turns a deep red just thinking about Michael. The fact that Logan is blushing does not help her try to convince Alex nothing happened. Logan starts heading to her room for the night and Alex temporarily dismisses the ongoing investigation of knowing the night’s events. However, in their heads they both know this topic will come up again. Alex is plotting how to get information that Logan considers classified and Logan is thinking of vague and ominous responses to evade Alex’s questions on the nights events. Logan walks into her room only to collapse onto her bed. Her head hits the pillow and instantly she drifts into the warm lie of her dreams reality.
