I sat at my desk with the report open in front of me, the cursor blinking uselessly on the same line for the last twenty minutes. My body felt heavy, anchored to the chair by something I couldn’t name. Every time I tried to focus on the numbers, my mind drifted back to the way his hand had stayed on my neck, the way his eyes had held mine like he could see straight through every wall I was still trying to build. I knew this was wrong. I knew it with every rational part of me that still functioned. I was the junior analyst who had become the center of the biggest scandal the company had seen in years.
