The fluorescent glare of the kitchen overhead hummed a low, flat note that felt entirely too loud in the empty apartment. Outside, the Bandung rain had finally slowed to a gray drizzle, streaking the window glass and blurring the distant, dark silhouette of the hills against the early morning sky. I didn't change out of my clothes right away.
