“Is something wrong?” Like wind chimes blowing softly in a summer breeze, Avery’s voice breaks Maor and I from our murderous thoughts. “Sorry. Maor and I were just feeling, well, angry at the thought of anyone coming after you.” I can feel the crookedness of my shy smile. She scowls, and I worry for a moment it’s because Maor and I can’t stop acting all feral. “I don’t know what those men are up to, but I won’t be going down without a fight. People that take other people and creatures for profit don’t deserve to live anywhere except behind bars. Put them in the cages they would put others.” Avery’s nostrils flare the more she rants about the men she saw, and others like them. Maor and I just smile like lovesick puppies at her. Our little Luna has fire. Maor chortles as Avery continues
