The evening was peaceful for Kaitie and Jake. After their friends had left the cabin, Allie and Matt had been gracious enough to pick up Jake’s SUV and bring it to Kaitie’s. Jake had wanted to go out and check on it when they arrived, but Kaitie had convinced him to wait until the next day when they had plenty of light. She also reminded him that he might want to do it after a good night’s rest. Jake had grudgingly agreed, admitting she was right. The sun had long set, and the pair were nestled together on the sofa.
