It was almost noon when Kaitie took the pan of biscuits from the oven. She had looked in on Jake several times to find him asleep with her cat Freckles cuddled up at his side. The pair were perfectly content with Jake’s hand on the cat’s belly and the cat laying his head on the man’s arm, hugging it with his front legs while they slept. Kaitie smiled as she thought about the pair and how peacefully they slept, stirring the pot of chicken soup once more before going to the bedroom to wake her patient.
