Another low, mournful call came from outside as Kaitie and Jake hurriedly dressed. They left the bedroom with Kaitie and Jake going to the kitchen to find something for the baby to eat while Kaitie bandaged her foot. Jake looked in the refrigerator and sighed. “What do you suggest?” Jake asked her. “I would say crackers and jam. There are full jelly jars and boxes of crackers in the pantry,” Kaitie said as she handed him a spoon. “I will let them in and get them settled by the fireplace.
