We were almost at the other end of the last bridge. A very thick fog hung in the air.
It was almost dusk.
"What's that smell?" Reem asked as we paddled steadily to the river banks
"Welcome to the dark woods princess! Better get used to it!" One the dwarves replied and they (dwarves) roared in laughter, but were put to order by just a single stare from Margaret.
Everywhere was silent again as we gently rowed to the river banks and alighted.
"M'lady what do you suggest we do with the boat" someone asked?
"Burn it down so nothing crosses over from this place (Nania Instructed)
Can you do it? " Nania asked me and I simply nodded in reply
"Ignus!!!" I spelled and the boat caught up in flames.
We made sure the boat was completely destroyed before we ventured nto the woods.
We hadn't walked about 5 minutes before Reem began to make everyone uncomfortable
"Guys? I think there's something else with us in this woods" she spoke out but no one really paid her attention
"Of course we're not alone here, this place is already inhabited " Margaret shunned her
"No, seriously guys, there's something here with us, watching us, preying us, I can sense it(she exaggerated)
Guys my werewolf instincts never lie!" She said as she walked up in front and blocked us.
"Guyyys?? Take a look at this!" One of the dwarves spoke and we all rushed to the scene only to meet a mess of a goblin in a pool of it's own blood, with squashed head.
"What the!!" I exclaimed in disgust covering my nose
"It smells awful" Reem said and puked.
"Goblins!" Margaret said in a void tone
"Why would Goblins brutally kill their own?" Xavier asked
"Goblin execution (Margaret said and paused)
let's hope that's what it is" she spoke as she bent towards the goblin corpse
"And if it's not? " Xavier asked
"Then we're all in danger " Margaret replied plainly.
She had her way of inflicting fear in a person's heart.
We strapped up, and journeyed on.
We had not covered a few distance before we ran into another ungodly sight of dozens of dead goblins
"What in the world happened here?" Gretel spoke covering her mouth in shock
"Something doesn't feel right guys" I chipped in, as I felt a weird energy around us
"Definitely. This is not a goblin execution " Margaret said shocked too
"I think we need to take another route, we might be walking straight to our death (Nania suggested)
What do you think? you know these woods more than anyone? " Nania posed the question to Margaret
"Hmmm (she sighed)
The only route left should be through the goblin territory (she said in a low tone)
I don't like this idea" she added shaking her head.
"What do you mean? Would you have us die? (Nania asked fiercely)
I suggest we use this route you speak of.
We can definitely take on a bunch of goblins but not any creature that did this (points at the goblin m******e)
Besides, I think these are all the goblins (points at the corpses again)
Who's with me??" She threw the question to the floor
Everyone mumbled as they raised their hand in support to her idea.
"We're sorry m'lady " the dwarves said as they took sides with Nania.
"I sense a cóup" Hansel whispered to me and I nodded in agreement.
"Princess, everyone likes my idea, so lead the way" she said tapping Margaret's shoulders and she shrugged it off
"Don't touch me" Margaret warned before leading the way.
We continued on, journeying deeper into the woods.
This time there wasn't any ill scene.
Personally I wasn't in support of Nania's suggestion but I was scared to speak up.
"Guys wait!!" Xavier spoke out, his ear moving forward and we all stopped immediately.
Soon we began to hear faint cackling of goblins, which grew each second
"This is a trap!!" Margaret cried and immediately we unsheathed our weapons (more of in reflex)
In no time, we spotted the goblins as they charged towards us.
Xavier and his men wasted no time as they swung into action, shooting their arrows effortlessly, killing as many goblins they could:
But the goblins didn't relent, they kept increasing in number gaining ground towards us.
"Guys let's not test our luck, let's retreat!!" Margaret ordered and we all took to our heels.
I don't know how the goblins did it,(probably they could bend earth and nature) all of a sudden, vines from nowhere began to trip us, slowing us down but we didn't give up.
As we ran, a vine tripped Reem and she jammed a tree, knocking her out cold.
"Help!" She managed to say at least before she passed out.
Before I could turn to her rescue, the goblins had already kidn*pped her and were retreating
"Guys!! Wait!!! Let's rescue Reem!" I screamed as I halted immediately
"Sorry kid, we can't risk our lives for her, I suggest you join us too" a dwarf said as they still ran.
There was no time and I wasn't ready to give up on Reem, so instead of wasting time on them, I chased the goblins myself.
I noticed Hansel and Gretel join me, before the others did.
As we were now running to rescue Reem, the goblins still tried to slow us down with the vines.
We were almost catching up to them before a huge tree branch snapped and was about to drop on us.
All of a sudden everything began to move in slow motion to me.
The wind caressed my hair.
I felt an energy surge within me as my eyes turned white (or so I was told)
An energy formed in my hand and without wasting time, I directed it towards the falling branch and it shredded it into pieces.
I don't know how I did it, but I moulded the energy surge into a ball and directed it to the goblins and it blasted them away
The blast affected us too knocking us out.
I was still trying to recollect myself before I saw something, a werewolf maybe, emerge from the woods.
With a swift move, it attacked the goblins that were still trying to kidnap Reem.
He let out a loud roar and the goblins cowered away.
