CHAPTER NINETEEN CHANCE WAS ALREADY gone by the time they reached the car. Reed walked around the vehicle, inhaling deeply to try and catch some scent of the other man while Hayley peered through the windows at the interior. “He ran off into the woods,” he said, turning back to Hayley. “We should wait for the others, but…” He took a deep breath, glancing back out among the trees. “I don’t want to wait, though. I don’t want to risk him getting away from us.” Hayley came around the car, standing at his side. “Okay. So, let’s go track him down then. I want this over.” He really didn’t want to take her with him, but he feared leaving her behind now that Chance was out of sight. There was no telling if the man would circle back to his car and find her while Reed was still tracking him. Again
