Chapter 39 Homeless

780 Words
"You think all of this is about feelings?" "I'm never going back to Jax." Liora lburst into laugh, because she would rather die than let Elara scatter her plans for her. Then, she pointed toward the door, still fuming in anger. "Your reputation is already destroyed out there. Not only yours, everyone in this family." Then, she moved close to her by just a step. "You need something you can hold unto, and call your own." "I rather have nothing to my name than accept him back." "You better stop being stupid." Liora barked. "You will go back to him, apologize, knee and beg him if possible." Elara stared at her mother, many things going through her mind. She couldn't help but ask herself when her mother became that bad, to not care about her daughter's happiness, but focused on politics." "You want me to kneel, and beg him?" She whispered. "Yes. That's what you will do." "For doing what exactly?" Elara asked. "For something I'm clearly the victim, I didn't even..." "For running our plans, Elara!" She snapped. Elara burst into a laugh. Now, it was her turn to laugh. How desperate can her mother be? To the point she can't wait a blink to sell her off. "Everything you say?" She asked her. "Yes." Liora began explaining. "I had plans for the future, your future. I needed to secure our standing in the pack, but not through the Alpha. He isn't as stable as you think he is! There the truth was. She knew something was her mother's drive force. She knew the truth had started coming out, but with time. So her mother was making plans for her behind her back. "You future plans," she repeated, but to herself. Liora didn't even care to deny it. "Do you think things just happen any day, without anyone pushing them forth?" Liora continued, still raging in anger. "I worked hard for this opportunity. I ensured I positioned you carefully to get his attention." At this point, Elara's heart almost burst open. "You positioned me with Jax?" She asked, tears already crowding her vision. "Yes.," Liora replied. "He's the stable one for you, acceptable, and safe. You may not understand now, but you have to trust me on this." "And in your words, I ruined it for you." She said. "Yes, you did, and you're not even remorseful about the whole thing." Elara nodded, just once, as she was already tired of arguing with her. "I'm glad I ruined whatever plan you had. Instantly, Liora's hand moved before her head could think, and a slap landed on Elara's cheek. The sound was loud enough, that the room vibrated. Her cheek burned so badly, her eyes blurred, but she didn't cry. "You ungrateful child," Liora scolded. But Elara had made her decision, and wasn't going to allow anyone stop her. "The sooner you realize I'm not your project, the sooner for you," Elara told her. "No, you're worse than that. She paused to catch her breath. "You're a complete failure." That really hurt, but Elara stood there, taking everything in. "Go in and pick your things," Liora ordered, her eyes burning like coal. "What? Why should I do that?" "If you're not ready to fix what you destroyed," Liora scolded, "then, there won't be any need to keep dragging this family name to the mud, all because of your disobedience." Elara stared at her mother, not believing she could go to that extent. "You're seriously sending your child away?" "I'm only doing what is best, to protect what is left of our dignity." She replied. "Alright." Elara replied. She didn't put up a fight, no argument, a d that surprised Liora. For Elara, she was done bending to every rules she sets in the house, and which never for once accommodates het desires. Right from when she was old enough to make her choices, her mother had been the one making every decisions for her, the college she went to, down to her choice of dressing and food she ate. She never had the privilege of living for herself, this was her first time of disobeying, of not agreeing to have to her terms. If for anything, she should be allowed to choose her mate, because that aspect of her life is something that can't be controlled. Elara turned and walked into her room, picked a few of her things, her breathing now heavy. Her home which was supposed to shield her, has not turned against her. Home was no longer home. And as she left their house, glancing back for the last time, she remembers: she has nowhere to go.
