Kura stood in front of her mirror, admiring herself. She was all smiles because of her recent achievement.
She has never been more proud of herself before, being able to pull the staut.
"I was able to do that!" She whispered to herself with a smile. "And it was a beautiful sight to behold."
She could not stop smiling, as the memory kept replaying in her head, of how good she was.
The ceremony was almost a success, until she showed up to take over everything. The gasps, the way Selene looked broken, even the look of fury on Alpha Ronan's face was a delight to behold for her.
Elara's downfall, as she tagged it, was a big success. "That was way more than perfect."
She picked her phone, and started scrolling randomly, to make posts of what happened. She was shocked to see that the pack had already done more than enough for her. There were different posts, clips, all flying around the internet with Elara's pictures in them. She could not be more happy than she was.
"She slept with her best friend's father...on her birthday night..."
"She lied about her pregnancy, forcing it on another man..."
"She made attempts to trap Jax in a loveless marriage..."
Kira chuckled softly, happy that he likes had already done greater part of the work.
"They're even more brutal than I ever thought."
Seeing no need to post again, she dropped her phone, armas folded as she smiled endlessly.
"Elara Voss..."
She said the name like it tasted blood. "In your mind, you think you can outsmart me. Who won at last?" She said, her eyes burning with fury.
"You thought it will be that easy to lie your way through everything I ever wanted, while I struggle to get none " she paused for a second. "Now likk at you. How the mighty had fallen."
What Kira did not only disgrace Elara, it forced her withdraw from school, from pack circles, and from everything she ever joined that mattered.
Just when she decided to celebrate her victory with a wine, she heard a knock at the door.
"Come in," she called lazily, abandoning tbd idea of celebrating yet. Jax walked right in, a bit tensed. He was still looking confused, still had the look of someone irritated on his face. Kira just watched him, saying nothing at first.
The interesting part was him staying calm, and not celebrating like Kira, even when it is obvious her tactics might have saved him from getting married to fraud.
"You're too quiet," she started, trying to initiate a conversation, as her eyes still glued on him.
Jax scoffed. "Because everything that happened is messed up."
"Messed up? How do you mean?" She asked.
He ran a frustrated hand through his hair, his eyes burning in anger. "I never for once expected whatever you were planning to be that cruel, and eventually blow up like that."
Kira raised a brow, already getting angry with him. "What exactly were you expecting after everything? "She asked, trying her best to let her voice stay calm.
Jax hesitated, he could pass for the most confused person alive at the moment.
"I have no idea...just...not in this manner."
Kira leaned close to him. "You never wanted her exposed in the first place?" She asked.
"I never said anything of that nature."
"But that's exactly what it means. You want to keep romancing her bad behavior, at whose expense?"
Jax sighed, already regretting showing up at Kira's place.
"You're forgetting that she's... still pregnant."
"And? What is wrong with that?" Kira asked, furrowing her eyes at him.
"I just never saw this part of the script playing out. I never knew it could go this far "
"That's very funny of you " she said. "If for anything, you should be rejoicing, Jax."
He frowned, because he didn't see the need. "Why should I do that?"
Kira's voice lowered, just for him to hear, not like she is afraid of anyone. "Because, right now, no one would ever desire her again."
That sounded cruel to Jax, but he didn't say anything. Kira kept on watching him, watching his mood, and mindful of her words.
"And, you're finally free," she added. That kind of got his attention.
"Did you just say free?" He repeated.
"Yes. I said that " she replied smoothly. "You're free from the bondage of getting married to the one you don't love. From her constant drama. And from whatever thing she planned to keep you trapped with forever."
"She told me the pup was mine."
Kira's smile immediately faded away, as she narrowed her eyes to look at Jax. "And you believed everything she told you?" She asked.
He kept quiet, saying nothing, and that was enough answer already. Then, she walked a few steps toward where he was standing. "You know very well that a few things doesn't add up," she told him quietly. "Why did you still allow yourself to be betrayed and made a joke?"
Jax frowned, still finding it hard to understand her."what do you mean?"
"The timeline says alot. She breaks up with you. You chest, over and over again. She goes ahead to expose you, and then suddenly..." She stops in front of him. "She tells you that she's pregnant."
