"All this time..." She started, her tears gushing out like a running tap water. "You were beside me..." Her voice still not stable, be breaking over and over again. "You were smiling at me..." Her eyes became darkened, the height of betrayal. "And you were hiding something as heavy as this? Your heart carried such evil in it." Elara took just a step forward, as she doesn't know what to do again. "Selene, please..." "DON'T YOU DARE COME ANY CLOSE TO ME!" From the way she spoke, the anger in her, the entire arena shook. Selene has never been that angry before. "You disgust me " These are the words that Elara has never imagined could ever be used by anyone on her, talk less of her best friend. "I trusted you wholely," she continued, her voice still shaking. "I defended you when everyone was against you. I stood by you everywhere, fought off anyone I had to, to keep you safe. I called you my best friend!" Then, her Laughter came back again. This time, bitter, painful, unbearable. "And, the only way to pay me back...you..." She pointed a finger at Elara. "You decided it was best you sleep with my father.' Elara's tears started gushing freely. She couldn't hold them back, as everything she feared, all stood in front of her. "It wasn't exactly like that..." "Then, what again was it?!" Selene yelled. "Was it an accident? You tripped, and before you could get hold of yourself, you found out you were in his bed?! Is that it?" Elara flinched at her voice, as she had never seen that part of her before. The crowd continued roaring, everyone with their own opinion. "No ..no, you don't get to explain anything to me." She said, her voice dropping into almost a whisper now, but cold and deadly. "You betrayed me." That was her take. It was that simple, and that's final. Behind Selene, Mira, her mother who had been trying to process everything, took a step forward to face Elara again. From the look on her face, one could tell she didn't come to play. "I knew it. I just knew something was off," she added coldly. Ronan turned sharply to her. "Mira..." "Don't you even dare!" She cut him off, her tone very deadly, her eyes burning with coal. "You brought this ridicule into my home." Ronan's jaw tightened, as he made effort explain his own side of the story. "It's not exactly as you see it. It's not what you think, Mira I’m.' Mira let out a laugh, more like she had been holding it. She gestured toward Elara. "Just look at her. My daughter's best friend of all people?" Her voice rose. "You couldn't be decent enough to find anyone else for your games?" Ronan still made an attempt to calm her down. "Lower your voice, please." "Oh, I will raise it however I want!" Mira snapped. "You've done your best. You've humiliated me enough!" The murmuring from the crowd grew louder, as they watched both their Alpha and Luna disgrace each other. It was no longer mere whispers, as everything were made public. Everyone had the opportunity to throw in their judgement. Even those that ordinarily wouldn't have stood upright to greet them. "Such a shameful act.." "That's completely disgusting...." "I have always known from day one, after the pregnancy announcement that something was off..." In no distant time, the words spread like wildfire, reaching those that were present to witness it. Jax stood frozen at a point, still trying to wake up from the drama unfolding before him. He was still in disbelief, then he laughed. "So.." he tried to speak, but the words refused coming out. "While I was fighting everyone for you...to have you as my mate..." His eyes became very dark. "You were actually carrying his child?" Elara's heart dropped again, she was expected to start explaining to him all over again. "I..." "Don't you dare speak!" Jax barked like a mad dog. He moved closer to her, his anger radiating all over him. "You lied to my face. Told me countless lies." "You made me look like a fool in before everyone, before my peers!" "I had no choice other than..." "No choice you said?" He scoffed. "You had as many choices as you could ever ask for!" His voice rising. "But you decided to choose him. That was the choice you made." The crowd reacted again by starting their noise all over again. "That's a scandal...that can affect this pack..." "An Alpha of a great pack, and a young she wolf...his daughter's best friend..." "That is disgraceful..." Another said by the corner. Elara felt it, all of it. The judgement, the hatred, the disgust that followed, how her chest tightened in pain, and now, her wolf...how she curled up immediately everything started, inwardly wounded. "I never meant for any of this to happen..." She whispered, but no one was ready to listen. That was medicine after death. Selene wiped her tears harshly, already accepting her fate. "Stay far away from me," she told her. "From today onward, you're dead to me " Elara froze. Those words, they broke her completely. If anyone has told her it could get to this level, maybe she would have done things differently. Immediately, Ronan stepped forward, his Alpha aura taking over. "That's enough!" He snapped. "No one speaks about her in that manner!" He warned.
