Chapter 38 Broken Home

633 Words
Elara Voss's family house. It used to be safe, very warm, a sense of belonging for Elara. But right now, it felt more like a cage than what it was supposed to be. Elara stood for close to half an hour before the gate outside. She wasn't doing anything in particular, just staring. It seems like staring into space was one of her hobbies these days. She didn't want to go in, to be part of that family again. But, she had nowhere else to run to. Then, making up her mind, she opened the door with a shaking hand. She carefully stepped inside, and just as expected, Liora was already there. She was waiting for her, her arms folded like one ready for a fight. The look on her face showed things had gone out of control. Her eyes were sharp, and very cold to behold. "Do finally, after disgracing this family, you decided to come home," Liora said the moment she saw her. "I never knew I need to take permission before I can come back home. My own family house." This made Liora to burst into a bitter laugh. "Your own house? How?' she asked in amusement. "You completely lost the right to refer here as your place if abode, the moment she chose to bring disgrace upon this noble family." Elara didn't reply her, instead, she gently walked passed her. "Don't you dare walk away from me!" Ejara immediately stopped, then turned back to face her. "What else do you want me to do at this point?" She asked, her voice showing how tired she was. "You are a pretender, and you embarrassed me in front of my peers! Not just me, all of us connected to this family." Liora snapped. "You think I am not suffering from the whispers spreading around the pack each time I take a step outside?" With a raised voice, she continued. "That's the mother if the girl I was talking to you about. The girl that slept with her best friend's father!" This made Elara to shut her eyes, as she suddenly started having a rush of memories. "She's the one that lied with her pregnancy!" Each word that her mother poured on her were like slaps, and from the look of things, she wasn't true yet. "Is that how I raised you? To be a community dog without control?" "No." She replied her. "Then, what exactly happened to my daughter, the one that I raised?" Liora snapped, her anger intensifying. "Life happened to get." Liora scoffed, already moving close to her again. "Don't take me for granted. You won't give me nonsense response again."they both stayed calm, each with their own thoughts, the environment suddenly uncomfortable despite the heat. "You will come back to your sense, and you will rectify it. "What? What are you talking about in here." "You heard me very well." Elara simply said. "No, I can't do it." "Before dawn the next day, start making explaination to Jax. You have to visit him immediately." "No. I won't do that." But Liora's voice showed her mind was already made up. "You don't have a choice here young lady, a d you don't get to argue with me." "I do have choiced to make. I won't allow you push me into this again." Elara snapped, forgetting how her mother's anger can get. This was the first time she was challenging her mother, refusing to follow her words. "I won't go black to Jax, we are done a long time ago." Liora key out a bitter laugh, and at the same time annoyed that Elara was putting feelings first. This would endanger the plans she has in the future if nothing is done. "You this all of this is about feelings?"
