1000 Words
"I need to get tested." The healer looked up, and was surprised by the person standing before him. Elara was standing at the doorway, not fully inside now. She was being careful, to ensure the Blackwood family weren't around to stop her. Maybe her sin was beyond pardon, that they can also go as far as refusing help from her. She held unto the doorknob, waiting for tbd healers invitation to come inside. "I...I know I'm the last person supposed to show up here for this..." She started, as she was determined to convince the healer to get her tested. The healer listened, carefully studying her. "If I can remember correctly, you were turned away on many occasions from the Blackwood estate." It wasn't a question, so she made no effort to answer him. "I know that happened on different occasions." She continued. "But I'm..." Her voice cut, a d she couldn't complete the sentence. Then, the healer spoke again. "What brought you to this place then?" He asked. Elara swallowed hard, trying to arrange her words in the right order, a way that would make the healer agree to go on with the plan. Her throat was almost dried up, a sign that she's dehydrated. "Because, I realized the pack hadn't found a match for her since " She spoke calmly, very quiet that one could hardly they were coming from her. The healer still didn't say anything, but staring at her. "She's seriously getting worse on a daily basis," Elara continued. From her eyes, one could see how much she cares, and how she was panicking for the life of her friend. "I can feel that she's not getting better...even from a distance." Her wolf stirred inside her in witness, already hurting that they were restrained from ever visiting her. "At this point, I don't even care if she hates me, a d tbd air I breathe," Elara whispered. "I don't even want her to forgive me. She may never ever want to set her eyes on me, and that's fine .." her voice now shaking as she thought of a life without Selene in it. "But what I can't do is to watch her die, when I can actually do something to save her." At this point, the healer's facial expression softened, now touched at her kind heart. "Do you understand exactly what this means before embarking on it?" He asked, while adjusting his clothes. Elara nodded in affirmation. "If I happen to be a match...I will gladly donate to save her." "No conditions attached?" "Yes. There will be no conditions. I just want to donate." The healer watched her, considering her proposal. He watched her for a long time, like he was weighing something. Then, he replied.."come inside." Elara finally exhaled. She hadn't realized she had been holding up that for a long time. She was relieved for the chance, but still scared. The door closed softly, as she was led inside the clinic. "Take a seat." He instructed her, and she obeyed. Her hands started shaking, but she managed to stay calm, to not show get nervousness to the healer, or he might disqualify her. "This won't take long. It's just for a moment." At this point, her heart started pounding, as she prayed for the result to be favorable. "What if I happen not to bed a match....?" She asked herself, her rate increasing more. "What if I can't help my friend recover from this deadly sickness?" "What if...." "Relax," the healer told her calmly, on noticing how worked up she was. Relaxing is easier said than done. If she healer were to be in her shoes, she's certain he would do even worse than her. She clenched her jaw, anything to help her stay stable. She sat there, watched him prepare the equipment. From the needles to the vials. She was ready to see what fate has in store for her. "Did you tell anyone you were coming here?" The healer suddenly asked her, like it was a criteria. "No." She replied plainly. "Not even Alpha Ronan?" Elara became stiffened, wondering why he had to bring his name now, nut she still replied. "...no " The healer glanced at her, but said nothing. "Gone me your arm." Elara exhaled, and extended her arm to him. She took her face there, as she couldn't beat the suspense anymore. She flinched the moment the needle touched her, big didn't pull away. To her, she has to bear the pain, anything to have her friend back to her feet again. "Done," he said, after taking time to press the cotton pad on her arm to stop blood from flowing endlessly. Elara barely noticed this, because her mind was everywhere, but there. "How long is it going to take to know the result?" She asked him. Not long," he replied. "But...." He started, but stopped "But what?" Elara panicked, hoping it wasn't a bad news. "If you happen to be a match...." He lowered his voice, and Elara just knew there was a problem. "This will end up complicating things." Elara still didn't understand what he meant, so she replied him. "There's no complications that would pass the one I am in already. Things have gone bad already." The healer didn't argue with her. He wanted to get the results first, then, he can discuss the next step with her. "Please..." She whispered when it seemed to her the procedure was taking much time. "I don't deserve to be forgiven. I don't even pray for it. All I want is just a chance to save her." The healer still didn't say anything. He didn't want to engage in meaningless discussions, until it's clear that she's a match. He also didn't want to raise her hope her, as she might get panic attack easily die to her pregnancy. So, he decided to allow her speak out her worries, while he run the tests. That was the important part.
