Chapter 59 Relocating to a new place

1017 Words
Elara stirred in her dream, she sat up lazily. Yawning as she robbed her sleepy eyes. The healer has removed her IV because her body has healed faster than he thought but still adamant on not discharging her without Ronan permission. After the scene he made yesterday. Sitting on the bed in deep contemplation. She realized what she had missed all this while. The saying is true and acceptable. You can't have your cake and eat it too. She can't enjoy two incompatible things together. You can't have her best friend and still have her father. It's forbidden. Now, it appears as if she was the outsider in everything that has occurred recently. She was the only one standing in the reality of the aftermath of the rain. Drenched. Cold. Without a shelter. How selfish the human mind could be. Wiping away the tears that have started to fall down her eyes. She lost everything to this mistake. Family. School. Shelter. Her forbidden appetite had stung where it hurts. The pack regarded her like dirt. She no longer has a place to call her own. Stepping down from the bed, she dragged her heavy legs into the restroom to have a cold shower before the hospital resumed work in the morning. She changed into the spare uniform she could find inside the cabinet. Not the best but still the best option she had. She stepped out of the restroom with a towel wrapped on her head to dry her damn head. Staring at the notepad on the desk at the corner of the ward. Her feet willed her to walk towards it without her consent. Shifting the chair backwards to sit, she stared at the clean sheet and pen for a while before her hand had the courage to write. The next thirty minutes were spent scribbling away her foolishness and deepest apologies to her friend. She folded the paper. Threw the towel on the bed and left the room. Cautious as she walked towards Selene's ward. Luckily for her, the cleaners were busy with getting their work done. It saved her from explaining who she was. The door opened with a small push, her breath seized at what remained of her best friend. Fresh tears swell up in her eyes as she walks closer to her bed. Crying softly, she quickly hid the letter in her cover when she saw Selene stirred up in her sleep. She exited the room and walked out of the hospital with her head focused on the floor. Afraid that someone might recognize her and take her back to Ronan. It was already daybreak when she entered the street. Some of the pack members were already busy with their day, paying her no heed. The cold morning turned against her skin. Thawing as the sun gets hotter in the sky. She arrived at the abandoned Cafe she had sought shelter from. Almost all her things were gone except for the box containing her clothes. Someone had indeed entered the place and made away with her things. She changed into a black pants and a hoodie which draped over her body. She still found her money secured where she hid it in the box. Packing what was left of her things into the box. A last glance at the place, she carried her box and exited the place. Waving down a cab, she gave him the direction to the nearest pack after theirs. Starting a new life, where she's not known, happens to be the only option. Nothing will come out staying back here. Her eyes were glued to the remnant of the memories she would have from where she has spent the last twenty years. "we are here" the cab man announced, pulling at a stop in front of a restaurant. Elara paid and took her bag along with her. The harsh sun was hot against her hoodie. Beating down on her as she walked around the unfamiliar city. The city was too cold to call a home compared to where she was coming from. People were so engrossed in their own self to notice that a stranger was in their town. The pang of hunger taunt her stomach with a loud growl. Feeling embarrassed, at the way the person beside her looked at her. She muttered a quick apology and scurried away. Entering a local restaurant after roaming the street for half an hour. It was nothing like what she had seen at her place. The aroma of a toasted burger bread hit her nose, hurrying her feet towards the counter, to place an order. The man behind the counter was old and gray. His bright smile sent light her way. The lines on his face were straight as his smile deepened. Elara was at a loss at what to say. She lost her voice, staring at the man with awe. He was the only one who had picked interest in her. "I guess you need a burger bread to start your day or to continue your journey," the man said, resting against the counter. Elara cleared her throat "one burger bread please" she said, tearing her eyes away from the man who seemed to be staring at her soul. Like someone who had already figured out who she was before she appeared at the door. "right away" he responded, taking a step back from the counter to prepare her order as she waited patiently. Tapping her feet against the floor to calm her nerves, she could tell that he was deliberately taking more time than needed. After what seemed like eternity he finally laid her order before her. A burger bread with ginger tea and another small portion of bread. A steady words scribbled on a brown paper attached to the side "welcome to Zir" Elara's heart warmed at his gesture although she masked it behind a cold face. She was here to right her wrong and not to get familiar with anyone. The more she stayed out of people's business, the less the probability of her sin becoming exposed.
