"Mrs. Blackwood...I..."
"Don't bother...just save it!"
She cut her off immediately, no chance to even complete a sentence.
"You've done more than enough in our lives."
Elara's lips were actually shaking, as she couldn't believe she was in such a situation.
"I just want to seet my eyes on you...just this one's... please..."
But Mira wasn't having it, she still haven't stopped blaming her for everything that happened.
"Selene collapsed after everything that you did. She licked herself up, stayed starved for days, a d that worsened her situation. It helped accelerate everything, and now, my baby girl is lying down helpless."
Elara froze, still unable to forgive herself for everything that happened.
"We're you thinking her emotional state didn't play a huge part in this? The stress you made her pass through, when she was supposed to be resting, and staying far from anything capable of triggering the condition."
"You think it just started from nowhere, without your contribution?"
Guilt almost crushed Elara as she stood there. She could not beg again, her mouth was too heavy to even say a word. She couldn't believe she could be in such a situation one day.
"I never meant for any of that to happen to her..." She tried explaining, but it was more like a bad idea, because Mira glanced at her with a wicked grin.
"It didn't matter what you meant, as the one you had in mind had already manifested."
Mira too a step closer to her, making her move back in fear. At this point, she didn't know what to think again. She can't even stand before any member of Blackwood family without guilt almost crushing her from her bones.
"What matters now is what had happened, which was your wish for her all along."
Teas immediately started gushing freely out of Elara's eyes. How did she become the center of mockery in just a short period of time? She was always admired by many, but now, people hardly pass without pouring spit, and using her to teach their younger ones.
"I had no idea she was sick..." She continued. "She never showed any sign of sickness in her, and not for once did she bring the topic up, let alone ignoring or not doing everything to help her heal.
Mira started laughing, now clapping her hand very hard.
"Of course, you didn't do any of that."
" How will you have noticed when you were busy destroying my family? You chose to focus on the one more important to you, and that was ensuring we never witness happiness ever again."
The words came out, stinging too hard on her, but she told herself she deserved even more than that.
"I just want to apologize to her, to be with her in this difficult period as a friend, please..."
"You don't get to do any of that, because you've lost the right a long time ago."
Mira's voice was firm, and final. She wasn't ready to entertain, or give her a second chance. To her, Selene would have been okay, or just showing a little sign of the sickness, and be treated fast. But with what Elara did, everything accelerated, including the multiplication if the virus in her system.
"You don't ever cross here again, walking in at ease like you used to " she continued. "You're only here because of your guilt. You want to make peace, do you can rest at night, but it's not possible. That grave has passed.
"I didn't come gee for myself...I..."
"Then, turn and leave, a d never return..."
She still stood there, even when she knew nothing would ever make her to change her mind toward her.
"Elara..."
Mira's voice was now sounding tired, but she still continued.
"She doesn't want you anyway close to her...you should leave now that you have the chance."
"If you ever cared for her, you should respect this decision of hers, and never hang around this estate, or anywhere she would see you. I will not be this polite next time we are going to see."
Elara stood there, frozen to a point, and broken from inside. She felt rejected, felt discarded. Then, seeing there was no hope for her, her legs started moving again. Tears streamed endlessly down her cheeks, vbit she made no attempt to clean them. Her vision soon became blurry, ad she walked away. She ran while coming, but while going, she was walking, and hopeless.
