"Watch your mouth!"
"Or what would happen? Kira shot back. "You will shamelessly defend her honor as usual? Please. She would be getting none from me, as she threw that away with her both hands."
A few students gathered around, pleased with the gathering, as their ears itched to get the full detail.
"She didn't trap anyone, and you are aware of this," Selene snapped with so much anger. "Jax made his choice clear when he left you for her. Just the same way you did, sticking around someone that clearly doesn't want to show you off "
This got Kira very angry, to the point she was ready to go physical, but she smiled it off. A calculating kind of smile.
"Maybe...she started with a grin. "Or maybe from my angle, there's more to the story than you two are letting on."
This made Elara's heart skip, as that was true. She was hiding way too much secret for her tiny body. What does she mean by that? Will she make effort into finding out what really transpired.?
Kira's gaze, lingered on them, particularly on Elara, a little longer than necessary. Then, she turned and walked away.
"Just do you know, this isn't over, until I say so."
The rest of the day blurred past like it never existed. There were whispers, stares, and judgement all around her, in any corner that she turned.
Different people, those that had done even worse things, were throwing judgment all around like saints. It was unavoidably annoying, their stares unrelenting.
By the time Elara finally got home, sbe was more than exhausted; not from work, but emotionally and mentally. It was more like her tolerance a d patience rate were being tested.
The way her wolf had been restless as she stepped inside the campus, to how she managed to stay sane till dismissal.
She closed the door, hoping everything would stop at tbd entrance. She watched the door slam hard, maybe anything to take her mind from all that had been happening around her.
Trying not to be her was too long she realize that, but it didn't bring peace. "I can't do this anymore. She whispered, her strength failing her.
Then, her hands moved slightly to her stomach instinctively, and at same time, protectively. To her, everything she believed in was gradually falling apart. Her reputation, the one she built with so much zeal and energy, was suddenly going, and she had no control over it. Tears filled her eyes, but she made effort to control it, to not add to what she was already suffering. If she had went on to cry, and become vulnerable before then, they would always seize the opportunity to bully her the more.
To worsen it, her friendship with Selene wasn't guaranteed, as anything could happen, if the cat is finally let of the bag. If anyone discovers who's responsible for her pregnancy? If anyone gets to know her dark fantasies, the one she has buried deep inside her, she would have no choice other than to stop showing up in public places to protect her sanity.
Others are going to school freely, living their best life, but hers was about to be praised because of a single mistake. If only she had allowed it remain a fantasy in her head. If only she hadn't caught her boyfriend cheating, which drove her to drinking, maybe, her life would have still be intact.
If only her mother would permit her to abort the child. If only she wouldn't have to live in fear of Selene finding out; maybe that time, she could freely breath, live and not have to hide. She wouldn't have to explain herself to anyone.
And st this point, with the guilt eating her up, telling Selene the truth, is equal to breaking their friendship with her hands. She couldn't even confide in her mother, or Ronan. No one would be her anchor if she opens up. So, she decided to hide, to carry the guilt, even with her elif pushing her, she chose to stay calm.
Then, while she was still derp in thought, a soft knock at the door, interrupted her. Elara froze, her heart rate increasing, as every second of her life, had recently turned to fear. Fear of the unknown, if anyone finding out, of Ronan ever finding out, and coming for his child, and of her living a lonely and miserable life, because Selene found out.
No...not again today...
She stood up, walked slowly toward the door, not like she was already heavy but because the weight of everything was already weighing her down. She finally opened the doors and there stood Ronan. The one person she knew would keep on pressing hard to get the truth from her.
She knew the last time he came that he wouldn't give up so easily, not until he gets the answers to his questions.
Or was he there because the bond keep drawing them together.
When he finally got inside, his expression didn't give away his motive. Not even a slight mockery of it. His blue eyes were dark, very dark, but focused, and unyielding.
"Elara," he started quietly, almost a whisper, like someone with an aim. The moment she heard her name from his lips, her breathing which was steady, not until he stepped in, hitched. She completely forgot how to breath, staring at him, list in those blue but dangerous eyes.
At this point, everything that transpired in school didn't matter. She was obviously having the best time of her life, the one she wished would never end, even though it was wrong , but giving her the feelings she so desires.
Behind him, the world still buzzed, they still judged her, calling her names. They were still not ready to take it easy on her, pressing on her on every side. But, right now, all she wants was just him. The only presence that carried the kind of pressure that she likes.
But at the same time, the truth was gradually getting closer to being uncovered.
Why exactly had Ronan come?
