"Selene, please, open the door." Still, nothing happened. "I know you're in there, and hearing my voice."
Instead of opening the door, Selene turned her face away. She didn't want anyone in her space. She pushed the door, rattling the handle, but Selene still sat still.
"Selene..."
"I said I don't need anyone here. I don't want to talk about anything!" She snapped in anger.
Mira sighed, seeing there was nothing she could do to change her mind.
"Alright then," Mira replied softly from the door side, hoping she would change her mind.
Not long, Selene heard retreating footsteps, showing her mother had gone back already. She felt guilty for stressing her mother, even with the ongoing divorce she was passing through. But she still didn't stand up to let her in. If she decides to let her in, they would start talking, a d that meant explaining, and she doesn't want that. She couldn't handle the emotional rollercoaster that would come with that.
Her phone started buzzing, but she ignored it. Iy rang again, but she still ignored it like it was not hers. Finally, she decided to check who it was. Just a glance, her heart immediately sank. It was her Dad, Ronan.
Her thumb hovered over the screen, as she kept contemplating on what to do with it. She declined the call after a few minutes. Then, a message entered, but she didn't care to open it. Instead of waiting to get more of the kind, she decided to off the phone completely.
To her, silence was better, and safer.
"They both made that decision to betray me," she whispered. "So, I am free to make mine, whether it suits them or not."
Then, her voice became hardened. "I'm so done trying to please any of them."
She was done tolerating Elara's excesses, done deceiving herself that Ronan cares. She was done with all of them.
Then, she suddenly started feeling dizzy all over again, stronger this time, and she couldn't help wondering what could have caused the sudden change in her body.
She squeezed her eyes shut, trying to regain herself.
"Not now..." She murmured to no one. By now, her body had started feeling week, too strange that she wondered if it's still get body. Even with the way it was, she forced herself to sit upright, to maintain stamina and not fall.
"I'm doing just fine," she said out aloud, affirming positively.
"I'm just tired from everything I've been through lately." I just need rest.
To her, it was just stress, her nerves and system reacting to the shock her body passed through. The emotional torture that lead to her exhaustion, nothing bigger than that.
**************
Ronan had restless lately, especially after Selene ignored his calls like he doesn't exist. And now, Elara doesn't want to have anything to do with him anymore, and she looked like she meant it this time.
Ronan made his way to the forest. He was there for one thing; clear his head of the heavy load he couldn't handle. He has been overseeing the affairs of the pack, both difficult and small cases, but to be in control of his own emotion, he failed woefully.
The worse is how his wolf paced inside him restless, agitated, and unstable, thereby making him an unstable man.
"Calm down a little bit.," Ronan muttered, as he tried and hoped there would be a way out for him. But the response he got came almost immediately. A low, but angry growl escaped his mind.
Mine.
Ronan shut his eyes in an attempt to control it.
"No."
The word came out very sharp, even more than he had intended it to be, but that doesn't matter anymore. His tried his best, but his wolf refused to listen.
Mine.
It kept on demanding for attention, refusing to let go, even when it was obvious she couldn't do anything.
"She doesn't belong to us anymore. She made sure of that," Ronan tried explaining through gritted teeth, but that wasn't even helping. All he felt was a surge of emotion, that came rushing to him violently, more like pain and possession.
No matter how hard he worked to respect Elara's wish, the wolf kept doing the opposite. It kept rejecting all her crazy ideas, the distance that both of them forced on, and the denial they are trying to live with.
Ronan staggered backward, but managed to hold himself from further disgrace.
"Control yourself this minute!" He snapped, like he was talking to a third party. But the more he tried his own, the more his wolf pushed back harder. The images of Elara flooded his mind. From her scent, down to how angelic and melodious her voice sounded, then her touch. The one he experienced that night.
At this point, Ronan started sucking in a sharp breath, anything to control the increasing awareness of her presence that his body was creating everywhere.
"Stop it!"
But nj matter how hard and harshly he sounded, it still wouldn't stop. And this was only because his wolf had no idea where that could land them to. The wolf didn't care about consequences, even about morality. It still didn't care about what Selene thinks about the whole thing. All he care only was about her... Elara.
