"You may be over reacting," he replied, even though he was suspicious himself. "Am I?" Kira asked, as she lowered her voice. "Then, you should have no problem answering my question. What made her to return to you all of a sudden? Jax hesitated for a few seconds, suddenly considering her words. "She didn't actually come back..." "Have you suddenly forgotten she told everyone that cared to listen that the pup is yours?" Kira cut in. "That single statement ties get to you, whether you approve of it or not." Jax frowned, not necessarily because he was analyzing Kira's words. "That's because the pup is actually mine in the first place." Kira sighed, clearly frustrated that he wasn't buying into her idea the way she wanted it. "You're really going to accept her, without thinking this through?" That kind of irritated him. "What exactly is that supposed to mean?" Kira saw it as her opportunity to strike more. She leaned slightly toward him, her voice lower into a whisper. "It means you are busy seeing only what you want to see," she replied in a soft voice. "You are not open to see what is actually here yet." Jax clenched his fist, but he didn't move any inch close. "And what again is actually there that I haven't seen?" Kira's eyes gleamed as she sat upright to brain wash him. "All I see is a girl who was humiliated when she least expected it," she started. "A girl who needed any way possible to finally regain control." This kind of got him, "What are you implying with that?" "That maybe...in her journey to redemption, you happens to be the easiest option." The words landed so hard, that it was too difficult to believe they were not true. "She decided to pick you," Kira continued, calmly circling him. "The same guy she pushed to the mud, and embarrassed publicly. The same guy that is in everyone's memory to had cheated on her." Jax looked up at her, as he was gradually getting confused on what to believe, and the ones to filter off. "Why exactly would she choose such?" Kira stopped right behind him, her hands massaging his stiff shoulders. "Because that would give her power again." She whispered gently. "And at the same time, forces you back into her life, that way, she would be able to save her face once again." "And because," Kira added softly. "The real father might be someone whom she can't easily get involved with...then, she chooses you as the perfect cover." This made Jax to become even more stiffed. He never imagined such in his mind, not even in his wildest imagination will his mind stray like that. To some point, it felt real, even though uncomfortable at first. "That's enough of this rubbish," he snapped all of a sudden. "You're clearly overthinking this." Kira smiled, now amused at how he could defend her. Someone that told her he doesn't like her that much. "You are rather the one doing the under thinking." He turned away slowly from her, removing her hands from his shoulder, as he paced slightly. "She doesn't have any reason to do that," he muttered. Kira watched him for some time, now selective of her words, but still persistent, ready to sow the seed of doubt in his heart. "Have you forgotten that she already lied to you before?" She pointed out. "She acted like everything was fine, even though she knew that you were cheating on her. Why won't she do that again just to get back at you?" "That one is completely different." "Do you think it is?" Kira pressed. "Can't you see clearly how it is a perfect example of how talented she is at pretending?" There was another silence, but this time, heavier than the first. Jax stopped pacing, his thoughts going wild, as Kira stared intensely at him. The look was cold, and detached. It showed something wasn't right somewhere. Kira saw it, that she was close to succeeding, that doubt was gradually creeping in. "You don't have to believe me if you don't want to." She said, taking a step backward. "But you should ask yourself this one question." Jax still didn't say anything. "Why is every of her glance at you seem like... she's just tolerating you.. instead of loving you?" That question was all that was needed to finally win him over. Kira held his gaze for a few seconds unapologetically. "The answer is simple; that's not one of the ways a woman looks at the father of her pup." She replied sweetly. Jax obviously didn't have an answer. Even without Kira telling him, he knew deep down that he had noticed that behavior too. But he chose to turn blind eyes to all of that. And now that another person had pointed it out, it won't be bad to finally take a closer look at it. Kira stood near the door for a few minutes without moving, then... "Oh...and one more important thing before I forget..." She continued, glancing back over her shoulder like a model. But Jax didn't move, as his thoughts were already messed up. "Watch her closely," she added. With that, she smiled widely, more like her mission was complete. "You might not be pleased with what you find, but it would save you a lot." With that, she left, quietly like a saint, leaving behind only doubt, and a disorganized Jax. His mind continued replaying every conversation he ever had with Elara, her body movement, her facial expression, everything. The way she reacted to each touch, like they were irritating her, and suddenly, his eyes darkened. None of their time together recently felt right anymore. He clenched his fist, trying to get hold of his anger. "If I ever uncover that you are lying to me..." He muttered under his breath, unable to complete the sentence. He suddenly wants to know every of her movement, who she speaks to, even down to the doctor taking care of her. All thanks to Kira.
