Sustenance

Lilorith POV She watched the wheels turn in his mind, and his eyes turned back to gold. “You’re no demon.” “Yes, I am.” He let her go and turned his back on her. “What did you come to do that day?” Lilorith reached into her handbag and pulled out Romero’s hard drive. She put it over his shoulder, and he grabbed it, facing her. “What the hell is this?” “Some information we had stolen that day. I want to give it back to you, to show you that I want to be on your side.” Gael weighed the rectangular device like a pebble. He then proceeded to wind his arm and throw it against a pillar. It broke into a bunch of pieces and tumbled into the bushes. “Your kind disgusts me.” He growled into her face. “I know.” He shook his head and roughly asked her, “What the hell do you want with my side?” “You should know what I want. What I need.” Lilorith dropped her bag onto the floor and took little, careful steps towards him. She stood on her tiptoes and nustled her nose against him. His gaze softened, and he let out the breath he had been holding in. His shoulders lost their tension as well. “I don’t.” She laughed lightly at the effect she had on him. “I believe you are familiar with the concept of a Succubus?” “And who isn’t?“ “I need to feed, Gael. As a Succubus, I need sustenance.” “So you just want to use m-” She brushed her lips tenderly against his. Making him lose control. Their lips clashed. They both shared the same hunger. The same call to adhere to their instincts, their true desires. He tugged her closer by the waist and bit her lip. She gasped, and he slipped his tongue between her lips. Ecstasy. It was pure bliss being in his arms. Being loved like this, for the first time. He pulled away from her. She tried to bring him back, but he wouldn't budge. Her eyes opened and perked up into the darkness of his gaze. Something in her soul leaped. She had to calm herself down. He was only feeding her. Nothing more. “That's not enough,” she whispered. “I can't let you leech off me like this. I should send you back to your disgusting species.” “You’d be sending me to die.” He sighed and let her go, pushing her away. Maybe her Saphonic scents were at work in him. Making him unsure. Or maybe it was the fact that they were mates. As a succubus, Lilorith wasn't necessarily stuck with him. She could receive nourishment from any other sexually active person. But she needed him to think he was important, for now. Besides she couldn't go back home, her family thought she had gone to visit her aunts in Canada. It was the perfect lie because they always had bad reception there, so her mother wouldn't find out the truth. The man who had let her into the pack house came jogging. "GaGa. Trouble from the east section. Division one is being howled to action." He rushed the words out on passing, before using the garden's exit. Gael gave her a look that said he wasn't sure what to do with her. "Stay here." She sighed, and he grabbed her shoulder, "I mean it. Don't f*****g move. If anyone questions you being here, just say that you're a personal guest of mine." She nodded, and he walked away. Now what? Lilorith hadn't fully hatched out a proper revenge plan, but all she knew was that she was angry with how her mother had reacted to her having an unplanned mate. Normal succubi and incubi weren't able to form attachments with other supernaturals that did. It must've been the magic side of her that brought her this unfortunate fate. A side she had yet to understand. In all her twenty years of living, she had never really considered who she was. Who she truly was beyond the human face that stared back at her in the mirror. She learned about how her kind and other kinds functioned, but she never looked beyond it as learning material. She absently took a white flower and crushed it in her hands. But she was more than just human now. An awakening, was what they called the state she was in at the moment. The hunger within her would not be quenched with food alone. Her phone started ringing. Lilorith dropped onto her knees to frantically search for it in her bag. She wasn't supposed to have the device with her. Her mother could have traced it if she was looking for her. Lilorith answered the call, even though the caller ID was unknown, and said nothing. "Brielle, what are you doing? Are you trying to get punished even further?" She sighed, relieved at the familiarity of the strong, feminine voice. "What do you mean, what am I doing? I told you I'm punishing my mom." "That's stupid, you're acting like a spoiled kid." Lilorith moved the phone away from her ear to give it a suspicious look. That voice sounded quite close, almost as if Zorya was nearby. "Who ran away from home after getting a beating." The voice behind her startled her. The ginger-headed, slim, pale girl waltzed into view as she pocketed her phone. "Zorya, did you follow me?" "That's beside the point. We have to go." Lilorith frowned up at her, from her seated position on the ground, as she came closer. "I told you. I'm NOT running away. They h-hurt me." A spring of unwarranted tears came out of her eyes. "You don't understand what it felt like. You can't-" The otgher girl sighed as her hands made their way to the edge of her crop-top. Zorya took her top off and turned around. "I can. I do understand. You're so wrapped up in your little bubble. You're the one who can't understand." She turned back around and slipped on her top. "Who did, who did that to you, Zor?" The grotesque scars that ran down her friend's back left her shaken. "The very people who were supposed to take care of me." She replied numbly. Her precious blue eyes stared at something in the distance. "We. Should. Go." Lilorith stood up and shook her head, lightly. "He told me to stay here. My mate." Zorya's bushy eyebrows furrowed together. "Your mate? You love this wolf?" "No, I-I don't. But I. You know how we s*x demons are. " She chuckled nervously, "We need sustenance." "You know, I know you don't need it from him. You can get it from anyone else." "But my case is special. I'm not a normal Succubus, Zor." She held her friend's hands and whispered, "I've never felt this before. I feel like I'm burning up. I can't stay away for too long. Right now as we speak, my heart is wondering where he is." "Brielle, wolves are dangerous creatures." "I know." "Bad, horrible, selfish, crude monsters of the supernatural world." "I knoww." "Then what were you thinking coming here?" "I don't know. I hate wolves as much as the next demon, but I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone. I do need to find out about a way to break this bond. My mother tried a terrible and extreme measure, and yet even she couldn't break it. Being close to him might help me figure out a little bit more about myself. I'll also be able to piss off my family for what they put me through. See it's a win-win." She frowned at the crumbled flower near Lilorith's feet. As though considering her logic but then shook her head. "No, it's a lose-lose. The more time you spend with him, the stronger your bond becomes. The more he'll want to put his mark on you. Then there's no escaping him. And I wouldn't want to piss off the demons if I were you, especially if they were my family." "Well then, I won't let him put his mark on me." "Who says you wouldn't want it on you." "I say. I am NOT going to fall in love with a wolf, Zorya, that's crazy." She rolled her eyes and put her face in her dainty hands, frustrated. "Lilorith can't you see, he has a hold on you already," she grumbled through her hands before taking a hold of Lilorith's arms, pleadingly. "And you haven't even known each other for that long." "He does not." "Then leave with me!" Lilorith crossed her arms and huffed, "Fine. I'm coming with you, but we'll wait for him to come back first. I won't leave without announcing it like last time. He's gonna think badly of me." "He's obvoulsy not gonna let you go, Lilorith." "Since when do you call me by that?" "Since now. Since you won't accept my authority in your life as your guardian angel. Since you're apparently hooked on my brother somehow, and there's no way to separate you two." Zorya had said it too fast and angrily for her to process it. The girl had never been this angry before. What was getting into her? It was Lilorith's life to do with and mess up as she pleased. What did she mean by guradian angel. And what did she mean by- "Brother? Did you just say that Gael was your brother?"
