First Day At Work

The winds blow to shake up the trees, and quietly steals their songs and make melody to the ears.

My alarm went off and I quickly jumped out of bed. My eyes went wide when I realised I slept in and had only forty minutes to get to the office

Today is my first day and I didn’t want to leave any bad impression. I quickly went through my morning routine and hurried downstairs to grab something before I go.

“Morning dad,...morning mom” I said as I quickly grabbed some sandwich and a bottle of water before heading to the door.

“Sweetie come back here and have a proper breakfast “ my mom said

“I’m getting late mom, I have to go” I replied

But at least let me pack some lunch....”

“Don’t worry mom I’ll be fine” I said .

Monday mornings are the busiest day ever. Its the starts of the week as well as the first working day so everyone is trying to get to work and getting a taxi is one problem and getting to work is another problem.

I made it just in time to the office . I walked yup to the receptionist and she handed me my employee card. I made it to the elevator and made it to my new office.

I had not dropped my bag when I suddenly heard the telephone ringing. Dread filled me las I knew what was coming .

“You’re late , and I don’t tolerate lateness. This should be the last time “ he said dangerously calm.

“Yes ,Sir I...”

“Come to my office now”

“OK....” I didn’t finish what I was about to say and the line went off.

Asshole I muttered to myself .

I strode to his office and knocked on his door . I heard a come un before I entered.

“Now first things first , no lateness. You have to arrive an hour before I do. Prepare my schedule for the day along with the documents needed. You prepare a black coffee with no sugar and milk fir me immediately when I arrive ....”

Well I though to my self I’m what I had gotten myself into he continued listing a whole book on what was expected of me.

“Do you understand...”

That snapped me back. “Yes Sir I do”

“Good now one more thing, you need to be at my home an 30 minutes before I wake up to pick my outfit for the day, before heading to the office”

“Yes Sir, “

“Now get Taylor take you through on what to do “ he said dismissively.

I turned and walked out of his office looking fir this Taylor. I had to ask the receptionist whose name was Gio by the way where to fund Taylor.

I eventually found him and was taken back. He was a short man with freckles and on his proud pointed nose stood a wide frame glass which he had to adjust every now and then .

“Hello .....”

“You must me Ms ....”

“Call me Peri”

I extended my hands to shake him but was refused just the same.

“Well follow me and let me show you your way around”

We finished close to midday and I was exhausted. He showed me where all files where kept and handed me a key as it can only be accessed by me or the CEO. He also showed me how to make the boss’s coffee and also how to make his schedule.

He told me I could grab lunch at the cafeteria and went about his way.

I headed back to my office and took a rest.

I hadn’t sat down for long when he called demanding I come to his office.

“ We will be going for a business trip tomorrow and you need to prepare The Ashley documents .”

“ Yes Sir”

“ Also yes make reservation for two at Sempre Oggi. Also arrange for some flowers to be sent to this address” He said as he handed a piece of paper to me.

“ Memorize the address you’ll need it”

“Well noted”

I went bac to my office and went about my business. Soon it was lunch time and I went to grab some lunch at the cafeteria. I made new friends who worked at other departments.

“ Mr Jay den never kept a female secretary. What strings did you pull” one if the girls said.

“ I don’t know I just submitted my CV and I got the job”

“Quite strange I guess ,but anyways glad we became friends “

Suddenly one girl bumped into me and I quickly said sorry.

“ Watch where you’re going missus ,you wouldn’t want to run into trouble would you. I guess if u were you I would watch my back.” she said as she walked away.

“ Don’t mind her ,that’s Jessica. She’s jealous you got the position. She’s been trying to for years and has been rejected over and over again. Its no news she’s head over heels for Mr .Jay den and she’s wary of you. Pay her no heed and finish up”

I had finished lunch and was making it to my office when I saw Taylor heading towards me.

“Mr Jay den has been looking for you” he said.

“Sure...”

He strode off faster than I could muttered a thanks to him

I hurriedly went to his office and was greeted with a frown.

“ Where were you?. I called several times “

“ I was having lunch. Sorry sir for keeping you waiting. Did you need anything?

He handed me his phone I looked at him dumbfounded.

“ Give me your number so I can call you when I can’t reach you”

I did so and handed his phone back to me .

“You can leave now. And also you can pack up for the day I’m heading out “

I muttered a thank you and left his office.

When I got to mine I breathe a sigh of relief. He always gets me as if I’m walking on eggshells. I went about my day and packed up.

I said my goodbyes to my friends as I exited the premises.

Since I has more time I decided to treat myself to a well done first day at work.

I decided to watch a movie then grab dinner in my way.

But it seems fates has its own way of doing this.
