He can’t tell a small child that she should not speak her mind. It would be equivalent to clipping off a child’s wings, which he would never do.
It was his own daughter, nonetheless. So there is even more reason for him to not say those words.
He would always let his daughter say whatever she wanted to say. Not just in front of him but in front of the whole world. That is the freedom he would win by fighting everyone in the world to give his daughter.
When he saw his daughter’s cute expression, as if she was the most innocent child in the world, Braydon Lu felt helpless.
He already understood for a fact that this little devil was far from being an innocent child.
He also understood that he had to be very careful with both his words and actions in front of her, as she was too smart to handle.
He curbed all his emotions and cleared his throat, “I am not saying you shouldn’t speak your thoughts out loud. What I am saying is you shouldn’t think inappropriately without knowing the other person clearly.”
He justified himself. He waited for her to talk back to him so he could continue to clear his name in her mind, but surprisingly the little girl did not do as he expected. Instead she calmly nodded her head.
“...” ‘What’s that supposed to mean? What should I say now?’ Braydon Lu thought to himself in a pitiful manner.
When he said those words, he obviously meant that she should know him better before she could speak about him. He clearly inferred that she should ask about him and find out about him.
Isn’t that the way to get to know each other?
Isn’t that the only chance for him to get closer to his daughter?
As a successful businessman, Braydon Lu knew how to lead the opposite person in the direction he wanted without being too obvious.
He did not understand why everything went differently when it came to his daughter. She would not do what he wanted her to do at all.
Everything she did resembled her mother very much. It was the same with Fiona Chen too. She, too, would always do everything the way he had never expected.
How could he doubt this little girl’s identity when she resembled her this much?
In fact, even if he did not know her personality, there was no way he would doubt her identity.
After all….
“Your eyes,” he spoke softly.
The little girl raised her round little eyes to look at him in confusion. She did not understand what this man was talking about.
Braydon Lu smiled, looking into her deep black eyes and his features softened visibly. Even if his daughter wouldn’t follow his lead and ‘fall into the trap’, he would want to clear his name so that his image in his daughter’s mind wouldn’t be as bad as it was.
He thus softly continued, “Your eyes are the same as your mother’s.”
The moment his eyes laid on her face, he immediately knew she was his daughter. There is no single person in this world who would have those dark and deep eyes like hers.
Though Fiona’s eyes were black and calm, they would also have a glimmer of shine in them, that would attract anyone towards them like two balls of magnets.
Now their daughter had received those same eyes from her. How could he even confuse her with someone else?
As soon as she heard his words, Lana Chen was shocked.
The indifference and calmness that she had maintained until then vanished instantly.
She did not expect him to say such words at all. More importantly, she did not expect him to remember her mother’s features so deeply that he would recognize her instantly just because of their similar eyes.
There was a small hint of happiness in her cute round eyes but she regained her indifference immediately. She doesn’t want to lose her composure in front of this man at all.
“Oh,” she replied nonchalantly before taking her glass of water again to take another sip from it.
Braydon Lu was surprised by her reaction. She should be five years old this year. How was she so composed at such a tender age?
His eyes did not leave the little girl even for a second. He was trying his best to imprint her image in his mind. He wanted to observe every little detail about her that he had missed until now.
He couldn't believe that he was now sitting in front of his daughter. He had dreamt of this scene many times but never once was he able to see the features of the baby in front of him.
Before that day, he didn’t even know if his baby was a daughter or a son. Let alone know her features.
While he was looking at her, the little girl, too, was observing everything. She was looking at him from the corner of her eye while also looking at her surroundings.
She calmly scanned his office. She knows that a man’s nature is revealed from his room. Even though it was not exactly his room, it was not much different either. There is a lot to know about a person from the way he decorated his office.
The room was silent for a while, but no one took the initiative to speak.
After a while, it was Braydon Lu that spoke, “Does your mother know that you are here?”
“No,” the girl replied calmly. But if one were to observe her carefully, they would notice that her eyes constricted a little, showing her guilt and fear in her eyes.
Braydon Lu did not observe this little detail because his mind was somewhere else. He sat straight as he suddenly asked in a worried voice, “What? You didn’t tell her? Do you know how worried she would be?”
The little girl straightened her back at his sudden aggressiveness, but she tried her best not to show any emotions on her face.
Suddenly, a phone rang in the office.
The little girl pursed her lips before she reached into her suit pocket and she took out her cell phone, which was ringing.
She was shocked to see her mother’s name on the screen. ‘What great timing!!’
