The Face Of The Mist.

1007 Words
Rhineas’s lips might be moving but the words which uttered out of his mouth was someone else’s. Someone far superior than the mortals and other beings on Varheim. The lord of day, master of light and father of untainted, lord Emone. The air halted at one place and the lively night again compelled to stillness. The rustles of chilly air gathered the blue mist ahead of them. A grey smoke submerged into a cloud of blue and a face appeared in it. The face had two icicle blue eyes inside the deep black of nothingness. Blue flaming hair scattered in all direction behind the face. The high cheekbones settled on the either side of the face to form a square jaw leaving the spaces deep where the cheeks should be. The face was nothing but hollow. The ancient creases had appeared all over the face, and the blue mist dispersing through it. Alistair’s eyes filled with fright and his spine felt icy cold against his back. The frost sprinkled on every man’s hair. The sea lord prayed to their father Anlectus to protect them from the lord of darkness. Anyone who stared deep inside the eyes of Zohua would see his worst nightmares and deepest hidden fears. Alistair saw something which had left him shaken, dying by the hands of someone he loved. It was vague who was it? But clear enough to know that it is someone who he loved more than himself. His worst fear was the betrayal from Pysenia, the woman he loved with all his heart and soul. The only woman he loved. Alistair recognised the snicker on Zohua’s face mocking him. His fright stirred up in his stomach and boiling rage rushed through his rage. Without thinking on an impulse Alistair roared in agony and threw his swords at Zohua aiming his eyes. The sword turned into ashes even before it could touch the face in the blue mist. Alistair driven by vengeance and hate dived towards Zohua. One of the sea lords held Alistair from behind, trying to seize him restraining him from doing anything which would cost the lives of everyone. ‘Let me go…,’ Alistair struggled as he violently screamed, ‘… I will tear this old bastard into shards.’ ‘You fool…,’ Zohua spoke. His voice as cold and hard as his appearance it was hoarse and surrounded them as if it was coming from all the directions. ‘There is a reason we are called immortals. We can’t be killed and certainly not by a miserably pitiful crawling mortal like you.’ Zohua laughed. ‘Amuse yourself…,’ Alistair spat, ‘… you who lives hiding in the shadow cowering from your own little brother. You are a coward who manipulates the weak into doing your dirty deeds. Go fight with your match.’ ‘And you are no match for me. You petty mortals who live under the mercy of our divinity. You are an ungrateful mortal you shall not be allowed to breath the air that we…,’ ‘Enough…!’ Rhineas voice echoed like the thunder in the sky breaking through Zohua’s words. ‘… We didn’t come here seeking violence, lord Zohua. Now we shall leave in peace, I will not fight you. Not today. Please tell me what do you seek of us?’ ‘You boy are not just a mere mortal. You are the miracle of the divines. Know that your place is alongside gods. Swear loyalty to me and I shall make you the lord of all the mortals.’ Zohua offered. ‘With all respect I have to deny you, my lord. I was born like a mortal and I shall die as one. My place is here. Now I ask you to please let us leave in peace and do not obstruct our path. Bless us for the night is your kingdom.’ Rhineas said firmly. His words were polite but the voice was dominant. Zohua was infuriated by Rhineas’s refutation but there was nothing he could’ve done, not now at this moment he would have to wait. ‘Fair enough. You stand against me then. I shall see you in a battle, your father has high hopes from you.’ He concluded and the mist disappeared. Lord Zohua faded into the depths of the night leaving no traces of its mist. The sight cleared and everyone truly relieved to know that there wouldn’t be any obstacles in their paths. The sea lords had become impatient to get back to their ship. Rhineas swooned and fell limply, Alistair grabbed him in time before he could go down in the ocean. Rhineas’s strangeness didn’t surprise Alistair, he knew it all along. After everything that the sea lords witness in this moment had left them thinking highly about Rhineas. For all they knew till now was that Rhineas is just some boy of an Ignysreon, but there is indubitably more about him. When Zohua had appeared afore them they had accepted their end, they had only one thin hope that their father Anlectus would protect them, but they are saved by the ward of the king of kingdom of sun himself. king of kingdom of sun himself.  The sea lords are going to educate Hadrites of everything which happened in the dark of the night. That was merely of any significance to Rhineas or Alistair. Rhineas yet remains vague about the event just occurred, ‘what happened?’ He asked Alistair. He remembers this was similar to the incident happened in the city of Halem. When Rhineas slayed the soldiers and escaped with Alistair from the front gates. ‘It was not me.’ He admitted to Alistair. ‘We shall talk about it in the solitude.’ Alistair suggested.
