The Unseelie Faeries.

Alistair roared and pulled out his sword, the sea lords hesitated for a moment but they joined in too. The dragon aimed at the claw and surged at it, like a spear flying to impale its target in the battlefield. ‘Jiua fire!’ Rhineas screamed. Jiua spat out a raging storm of fire at the claw. The fire melted a hole in the claw and passed through it. Rhineas swallowed down a gulp of distress and relief swept as the wind stirred the mysterious evil mist away. The sky was clear again but the time stopped still. The wind didn’t blow anymore neither did anything moved, hair fell flat on their skull. Rhineas somehow sensed that there is more to come. The strange impulse evoked in Rhineas again, prickling the insides of him. Only it had a stronger sense to it this time. The wind hissed some mysterious incantation and the mist appeared again, but this time it did not surrounded them. The mist made a wall in front pf them blocking their path. ‘Oh, holy flame, not again.’ Alistair cussed. Rhineas drew a deep breath in and made his grip tight around his sword, his other hand holding the dragon’s horn. His eyes held the wall of mist firmly as if seeking for a weak spot in it. The wall occurred rigid of concrete, even though it was made up with some magical mist. Alistair’s forehead sprouted the beads of sweat like dew on a leaf in the winter nights. His hands trembled at the hilt of his sword for the first in his entire lifetime. He had fought the first bloods, and Medralians alongside Edgard in the great war, fearlessly. But today he was vulnerable. The situation was the same as it were during the great war. A dragon, an Ignysreon riding it and the fire by their side. The kingdom of the moon and the kindom of the sun united together for that great war. Is this how being a father feels like? Weak. Alistair thought. ‘Hold yourself tight.’ Rhineas warned. ‘You are going to take us through the wall again?’ Alistair asked uncertainly even if seemed like that’s what Rhineas was trying to do. ‘I don’t know Alistair what I am doing? I am just doing.’ He confessed. ‘I am with you boy.’ Alistair believed in Rhineas, just like he believed in Edgard. Jiua growled and gather her breath and shot massive fire from her mouth again. As the fire hit the wall it created an impact so hard that it pushed Jiua back and the wall absorbed the fire. The blue light flashed inside of the wall in the shape of big ball. A movement began in the wall, it moulded into strange shapes and the surface rippled. It squirmed and slithered and bubbled and made scary noises. The incantations grew intense and the light inside the wall became brighter. The dark night sky was illuminated with the blue light emitting from the mist like a thunder trapped inside of the cloud. It only got frightening and filled them with a dread, that no one had ever felt in their entire life. Rhineas and Alistair anticipated the upcoming evil. Whatever it is they have to get back alive. The big wall of mist shrunk into a ball getting even brighter and Rhineas swore he heard the roars inside the wall. Suddenly in an instant moment the wall exploded, quietly. Only thing they felt was the impact which blew them aback. Rhineas felt a thick puff of air blown on his face it hurt as if someone had punched him. His hair scattered back from his face. The fragments of the wall floated in the sky and there was nothing but grave silence. The chattering of tens of different voice filled the sky after a few moments and the scariest creatures emerged from the remnants of the explosion. The fragments which they had mistaken for floating was actually flying closer to them, like the flies hovering around a dead carcass of animal. This was getting horrendous. Wings began to pop out from the fragments and then a face. A face with no eyes just sharp teeth and fangs, even sharper than the blades. ‘Do you see it?’ Rhineas asked gaped. ‘I wish not to.’ Alistair replied, disgust filled his eyes. ‘What are these?’ Rhineas wondered his mouth twisted in abhorrence. ‘The unseelie faeries tended by Zohua.’ Alistair said. Rhineas gazed at their leathery dark wings fluttering like a huge bee. Only body they had was a head with just mouth and wings which had claws on them. ‘Whatever you do stay away from their mouth…,’ Alistair cautioned, ‘… even a little drop of their drool will melt your flesh like wax and all they know is hunger.’ Rhineas’s heart hammered against his ribs, and the insides of his stomach contorted. He winced as these filthy creatures fluttered around them. Hissing and screeching they approached them with an unsatiating hunger. Rhineas swung his sword cutting through the air preparing himself to s***h through the faeries. Jiua pulled back her wings and shoved them into the air. A mighty whirlwind sent the faeries tumbling away in the air. Few of them crept upon Rhineas he out his sword through a faery’s head and cutting the wings of the other. They hovered over the dragon like bees over a bee heave. The hissing and screeching and clashing of the blades against faeries’s teeth evoked a havoc into the skies. Alistair drew his sword through a few faeries cutting them in half. He ripped off a wing from the other faery which had came for his neck. He blocked the few of the faeries with his sword avoiding them from getting their teeth through his flesh. ‘This is not working.’ Rhineas said as he aimlessly swung his sword through the cluster of faeries above his head. ‘They are in huge numbers. We can’t fight them floating in the air.’ One by one the faeries dropped dead from the skies into the ocean. Rhineas’s face covered in blood.
