♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎ IT WAS quarter past 3 in the morning when she woke up. She was having a nightmare, again. She gets the small knife under her pillow and cuts her left wrist. She just let the blood flow down to her bedsheet. It felt so good. She closed her eyes and let her tears run down her cheeks with a smile on her lips. I thought it stopped. Hindi pa pala. A smirk appeared on her lips, and she added another cut. She can't even feel the pain of the cuts she made. She was already numb and used to it. She can endure the pain. She opened her eyes when her phone rang. She was about to pick up her phone when she saw a black shadow near the window with two horns on its head. Her heart started pounding again. He's still chasing me even in my own way of dying. It may sound funny, but she was born into a different lifestyle in her whole life. Being a unique person. She was used to being chased by death ever since she was a child. I was used to being chased by people who wanted me to be dead. She stood up and was about to take a step when her world started spinning and getting blurry. I guess it's my time. Die, Taia. And she lost her consciousness. I was walking in a beautiful garden full of beautiful and scented flowers. Napakarelax naman dito. I was mesmerized for a moment in this garden while the sunlight was hitting my skin. I don't bother how hot it was because it's not. I love the feeling of the sunlight on my skin. It feels like...like I deserve to live in this wonderful place. "Lady Shia, your mother is looking for you." I opened my eyes when I heard a beautiful 40-year-old woman, and she looked like a Mexican type of woman; I could see through her beauty. I was about to talk when she passed by and went behind me. I was stunned when she got near to a beautiful girl. I think she was 5 years old already. "But, Rosinda, I love playing in this garden. Just give me ten minutes, please?" she pouted with pleading eyes. My heart was pounding so fast. Rosinda was about to open her mouth to speak when a voice echoed in the surroundings. "No more ten minutes, Young Lady!" I looked at the woman, and my heart was pounding rapidly than it was before. I couldn't breathe properly, and a tear fell from my eyes. "Mom," that's the word came out in my mouth. And my head starts to hurt, and it's unbearable. "I love you, my dear princess." "I'm gonna be a good woman someday, Mom and Dad." "Oh sure, you will." Stop. Stop. Please...stop. "STOP!" and I lost my consciousness. She woke up chasing her breath. "M-Mommy." She uttered when she remembered her dreams. She cried and started sobbing. She covered her mouth and curled her body, then hugged it. She stayed like that for a few minutes. She slowly wiped her tears and started looking at the surroundings: white walls, white chairs, lying in a white bed, or should she say-a hospital bed and a dextrose in her hand. Her wrist already has a bandage. I thought I was dead. How lucky b***h she was. That's what she calls herself because she doesn't feel like she's lucky. Her life was a mess and miserable. She wanted to forget all about her past. If only she could have the power to erase her memory; she already did. The door opened, and a nurse entered with a smile. "Gising na po pala kayo. Ano po'ng nararamdaman ninyo?" the nurse asked and check her. "When will I be discharged?" she asked, ignoring her question. "When you're already okay and when your husband comes back." The nurse answered while writing something in the papers. "Husband?" she was stunned by that word. What on earth just happened for having a husband instantly? Did Ioversleep? "Opo. Asawa niyo po kasi ang naghatid sa inyo rito. Grabe po ang pamumutla at kaba niya nang maisugod kayo rito. Inaway niya pa ang ibang nurses at doktor na hindi kayo kaagad inasikaso." Nakangiting sagot nito sa kaniya. "Ate, baka nagkakamali ka lang. Single ako at walang jowa, asawa pa kaya? Hahaha...nagpapatawa yata kayo." She said while chuckling. "Ahm. Ano'ng pangalan niya?" Akala ko ba wala ka'ng pakialam? Dahil imposible naman na may asawa ka. Bakit tinatanong mo ang pangalan? This is so not her. She doesn't care about anything especially if it's a guy or a stranger, well-except if it treats her well. Girl, he's the person who brought you to the hospital. "Hindi ko po naitanong, ma'am. Pero, Koreano po 'yong dating niya lalo na po 'yong kagwapuhan at balat niya." Sabi nito, she nod and felt relieved. Alam na niyang si Baeps 'yon. "Salamat. Akala ko kung sino. You may go." She said and the nurse left after closing the door. She sighed. She remembered what she just said to the nurse. "Salamat. Akala ko kung sino. You may go." "Pft. Sino ba ini-expect mo? Ha, Taia?" Hayy. Nababaliw na naman ako. She heaved a sigh and closed her eyes while listening to the surroundings. She heard the door open and close, but she didn't open her eyes. "Hi. Good thing you're awake." She heard the voice. No. It can't be. She heard the footsteps getting near, and her heart was pounding so fast. No! Not him. "Are you okay? Are you still sleeping?" Don't open your eyes, Taia. Don't. Don't open- She opened her eyes, and she was stunned by how gorgeous this man was. Her heart was pounding faster than it was before. "You're awake. How are you?" he asked her. She was searching for her voice, but she couldn't find it. Magsalita ka, Taia! "Ehem. I'm okay. I-Ikaw ba ang nagligtas sa'kin?" tanong niya rito. She hid her hands and pinched the blanket underneath. "Yes. Anelle asked me to check on you because you left immediately at the party, and she was supposed to check on you, but she forgot her car. She told me the address-" "Why did you save me?" she asked like she doesn't want to be saved. Her excitement and happiness fade away hearing the words 'check on you.' "Excuse me?" "You shouldn't have done that. It's my time to die, so why save me?" and she looked at him eye to eye. "You should be thankful-" "Thank you, but no thank you. Don't do that again. Don't stop the person who wants to die." She said and looked away. "Why?" he asked, and she hated it when she heard the tune of the person who just saved her because he felt pity towards her. She closed her eyes and sighed. "None of your business." She answered him and the man sighed. "Okay. I'll tell the nurse to discharge you. You're welcome." She heard the footsteps walking away and the door closed. A tear fell from her eyes, and curled to hug herself tightly. It was supposed to be her chance to get close to him, but she knows she can't, and she'll never be. He's married, Taia. Stop. And she stays like that until she falls asleep. Morning came, and Anelle was the one she saw when she woke up. "Sabi ng doktor mo na pwede ka na daw makauwi. Okay ka na ba?" Tanong nito sa kaniya at tanging tango lang ang naisagot niya. Pagkatapos nilang mag-agahan ay naligo muna siya bago siya inihatid ni Anelle sa kaniyang apartment na tinutuluyan. "You should go back to the village. Matagal ka ng wala do'n." Wika ni Anelle sabay upo sa sofa. Hinubad niya ang jacket na suot at sinampay ito. "Saka na kapag maayos na ang lahat." "What do you mean?" Napatigil siya sa tanong nito. She doesn't wanna talk about it. She knows that nothing will ever happen. She faced Anelle and sat on the sofa facing her friend. "Wala lang. Wala pa ako sa mood bumalik do'n. Basta. What do you want to eat?" she asked to change the topic. I don't wanna focus the topic on me especially if it's about my past. "Nah. I'm full. Kumain na ako bago pa tayo nagbreakfast sa hospital. Aalis na ako." Sabi nito at tumango siya sabay hinatid ito sa labas ng apartment niya. "Don't do that, again. Kung hindi dahil kay Kuya D-" "Don't mention his name. Don't call for help if it's me who needs to be saved. Ingat ka pauwi." She said with a fake smile drawn on her lips. Anelle nodded and said goodbye. She closed the door, then sighed. "You should share it with her." A woman wearing a white dress with long hair appeared behind her. She sighed and faced the woman. "Leave me alone. I don't have much time to entertain a ghost." She said and went to her room. She was born as a person who can see ghosts, past and future. People who talked about that kind of stuff like she has, they called it, 'Gifted' but for her? She's not. It's giving her traumatic experiences, depression, and anxiety. "They're your friend." The ghost appeared in front of her, floating while she was lying in her bed. "Leave." Soon after, the ghost disappeared. She heaves a sigh and gets her headphones, connects her phone to it, and listens to the music. Her other therapy except from writing and reading a story. She closed her eyes and listened to the song. Her tears started falling without even imagining that she would cry. After a few seconds, she started sobbing silently. She was used to crying silently because she always remembered her Mom said, "Nobody cares for your pain, not even you crying your heart out loud." Her Mom slapped her hard, which made her lips bleed when she tried to cry at the sound. She stayed like that for hours and fell asleep. ■○●□●○■ HE was busy driving his way back to his condo and couldn't think straight, remembering what happened a day ago. He saw her bedsheet and blanket covered with her own blood that night; he sighed, and when he arrived, he parked his car. "F*ck." He cussed. He remembered those beautiful calm eyes watering because of tears that wanted to fall. "Why does she want to die?" he asked, almost whispering. He sighed, and he heard a knock from his left window car. He was startled, but when he saw who it was, his curiosity was replaced by anger. It's his ex-wife. He comes out of his car and faces his ex-wife. "What do you want?" he asked without even an emotion in his eyes. The woman smiled sweetly, and he already knew the meaning of that smile. He gets his wallet and gets his black card. "No. I don't want that." Kim spoke. He was shocked, but he remained calm and cold. "And what else do you want?" he said. "Your surname." She said that made me groan in frustration. "Are you daydreaming again? That'll never gonna happen, Kim. Leave. You can have my money and nothing else. Here, take it and leave." He said and gave her the card, then he walked inside his condo. How can she still have the audacity to face me after what she did? He removed his clothes until his naked and went through his restroom. He soaked his gorgeous body in a tub with warm water on it. It won't come into his mind about what he saw on her wrist.
