The Deal

“What are you doing?” He boomed. Out of shock, the knife fell off my hands and I turned to look at the figure behind me. I gasped as I looked at the bed and realized it had been stuck up with pillow. How could I even think that was him? “I am here to kill you.” I responded and hurriedly reached for the knife. My life flashed right in front of my eyes as he grabbed it before me, swirled me around and placed the knife on my neck instead. It felt like magic because it was logically impossible for someone to be that fast. My breathing heightened as I was paralyzed with fear. “I am going to say this just this once and never again. Your parents were the one who gave you to me. I did not force them to come to me for help.” He spoke directly into my ear and goosebumps formed on my skin. I froze on the spot as any little movement from either of us could end my life hence I had to stay calm even though my mind and heart was doing the opposite. “I didn’t ask them to make a promise to give me anything I desired. If you are so upset, then the anger should be diverted to your parents and not me. “ He pushed me aside and I almost fell to the ground. “Now, get out of my room.” I was filled with shame and embarrassment as I could not carry out the mission I had planned to. I knew I had to get him out of the way someway and somehow but I did not know how to. With a determined heart to try harder, I left his room and returned to mine. If not for anyone else, but for Marcus. My body still trembled out of the experience I had and I could not sleep that night. Eamon was all I saw and the sight of what had happened ; where he had a knife to my neck so I stayed up all night, devising what to do. An idea popped through my mind. He could only stop me because he was aware I wanted to kill him. What if he doesn’t? A smirk formed on my face as I laid on the bed and waited for morning. As soon as morning came, I rushed over to the kitchen where the maids were cooking. Getting poison was rocket science but with the help of a maid, it was pretty easy and in no time, we laced his food with poison and I hoped this time, nothing would fail. “We need to leave now.” He started when I had barely left the kitchen. “The journey to my pack is quite a distance.” He responded, not sparing me a glance. Not even a greeting. Well, I didn’t expect it after what had happened the previous night. “We… we have to eat. I am hungry and if the journey is quite a distance like you said, I… do not want to travel on an empty stomach. It is … breakfast time and it is only fair we have one last meal with my parents.” I tried to convince him and he was quite skeptical for a minute. I hoped and prayed he would hearken to me. “Okay.” He responded casually and the table was set. I was filled with pain again, looking at my parents as they walked over to join us at the table. I couldn’t bare to look at them as I was broken… the pain hit even harder at that moment. I however decided to let it slide.Instead, I was more focused on getting what I wanted. I held the garment of my gown and waited for him to have a bite of the meal. I could not wait for the poison to kick in immediately. “I want your meal.” He suddenly spoke and my eyes widened in shock. I was rather in disbelief as that was the last thing I expected. “You can have mine and give me yours.” He insisted. “How is that even possible? I am sorry but I cannot do that. ‘ I responded, trying so hard not to act suspicious. Had he figured it out? “Then your maid could have the meal with me, would she not?” He called over the maid who had helped me set the whole thing up. She trembled in fear as she had her gaze on me, probably waiting for an order from me. The tension in the air was quite thick and my palms were sweaty. My mother and Father looked up at me, wondering what was going on and why no one wanted to have his meal. “Fine.” I took the plate and my heart raced as I wondered what to do. He on the other hand had a smirk etched to his face. If he was aware the food had been poisoned, why then did he want me to eat it? His gaze followed me as he expected me to eat. I stiffened my brows and emptied all of the contents to the floor before disposing off the meal. “If you do not want to have anything to eat, then you can sit there and watch us eat.” I responded and continued to have my meal. “No,, dearest because neither you or I would have anything to eat.” He stood up briskly and before I could say anything, he grabbed me by my arm, pulling me up, much to my parents' amazement. “What are you doing? Let me go!” I yelled at the top of my voice and tried to free myself while my parents only watched on, pity in their eyes but pity was the last thing I wanted. I wanted them to fight for me! “It was great being here with you. However , we have to leave now because the journey back to my pack is quite a distance.” He said with arrogance. Just then, a guard ran in, rather frantically. He seemed so worried as he walked over to my father and whispered some words into his ears. Father’s eyes widened and he stood up. “There is….” Father started, as he tried to stop Eamon. “Get your filthy hands off my woman!” I heard someone roar.
