Part Four
FLIPSIDE
All of that seems so long ago now. In two weeks it will be November and the weather is turning cold again. They still call me Babysan, but only in jest, and only the guys who have been here awhile and imagine that they are close to me. The rain beats down hard and it is a crazy time. It is the first time in months I have needed to talk.
The war is not going well. Everybody is much more negative these days. Aside from everything else that didn’t go exactly as planned, you probably already know that Tet didn’t end the war. Or maybe it did, insofar as it was the turning point, but even though we won every major battle in the offensive, we’ve been hearing for months how public opinion back home has turned against us.
