Prologue

338 Words
I can't believe that my life will eventually end up like this. For all the years that I spent waiting for my one and only mate, now it has all turned to dust. Each and every plan gone down the drain.  I am now twenty and I've been waiting for my mate since when I turned eighteen but she was no show.  I looked forward to every pack gathering, hoping that in one of them, I would finally get to meet her. I even tried the human gatherings but she still wasn't there. It was like she was hiding from me on purpose and now it is all over, over I say. I am now walking down the aisle, getting married in a few minutes from now. Life couldn't be much worse.  I am getting married just out of my father's insistence. He wanted to make an alliance with the human beings and I am his best bait for that. He didn't even stop to consider that I was just a young child, still trying to get through college.  In times like this, I really do wish that my mom is alive to save me from him but sadly she isn't and I couldn't change that as well. I didn't even know that the bride has finally arrived and is standing besides me. You know that moment you get to see your bride walking over to you, that nervousness and eagerness, all of that, I missed them all. Not that I cared anyways. The wedding keeps on going and it just feels like a blur to me. "You may kiss the bride" the man says. I hesitate but the look on my father's eyes made me move forward. I lean down to her, but before looking at her once again. There she is, my mate, standing at the end of the aisle, with no idea who I was and what I am to her.  All in all, having no idea that I am being separated from her, forever.
