Everyone was silent and every second was breathless. The sound of something slithering and wood being crushed was the only thing we could hear from below.
“It must have smelled us,” Alex whispered. Suddenly, the sound stopped, but everyone remained frozen.
I looked at Flynn who was laying on the comforter. If a fight broke out, he wouldn’t be able to handle all the moving and fighting. This is a fight that we must avoid at all costs if possible.
“Fck,” Sigrid whispered as he stared down the stairs. He looked at us and retreated to where we were.
