Chapter 12

1805 Words
As the busiest passenger airport in California, LAX is always extraordinarily busy, and this night was no different. And Margaret was looking at America's richest man in silence, "What's the number of your psychiatrist?" "A psychiatrist? You mean the dumbasses who make me lean back in my recliner and talk to them?" Tony Stark asked in disgust. Margaret shrugged her shoulders, "Counselors who can make you normal, to be precise." "I don't need guys who betray their employer's privacy," Tony pursued her with wide blinking eyes, "Are you going to play me or not?" Margaret took a deep breath and was about to speak when she was suddenly interrupted - Several vehicles appeared near the two in succession, crews from the U.S. military and Stark Industries. A black male, dressed in a senior officer's uniform, stepped out of the bulletproof Humvee, and he was followed by Tony's female assistant, Pepper, who looked smart, capable and sexy. The black officer's voice was urgent with a hint of resentment, "Tony, you were supposed to board a plane to the Gulf three hours ago, not harass a young lady here." Colonel James Roddy was a close friend of Tony Stark's, and was traveling to the Gulf region today with the genius of weapons development to demonstrate the latest in propulsion missile systems. It was already eight o'clock in the evening, Los Angeles time, and an eight-hour flight, with a ten-hour time difference, would be two o'clock in the afternoon when they arrived in Kuwait. With a couple of hours of preparation time, I'm afraid that the missile demonstration would not take place until late in the evening. Although the Gulf War had ended as early as 1991, the United States military had set up a no-fly zone in northern and southern Iraq after expelling Iraqi troops from Kuwait. In recent years, the conflict between Iraq and the United Nations Weapons Verification Team (UNWVT) and the United States has worsened from time to time because of the friction between the two sides over the location of the verification and the composition of the team. From time to time, the United States has launched air strikes of various scales in the no-flight zones as a deterrent to Iraq. The United States military's scheduling of a trip to demonstrate its missile systems in the Gulf at this time is obviously due to the ever-expanding conflicts between the United States and Iraq. For Tony Stark, the weapons demonstration was not as interesting as designing a new type of apparatus, not to mention that at this time there was a great beauty standing in front of him. The flirty tech genius looked at Colonel Roddy, "What harassment? If you hadn't popped up out of nowhere, Margo would already be ready to spend the night with me back at Malibu Beach." Margaret raised her hand less cooperatively, "Sorry, I wasn't." Tony looked at her disgruntled, "You cruel woman, I've agreed to let you play me!" "Oh, I refuse." The classical beauty was expressionless. The stabbed eyelash spirit remained vital, "Don't be shy, although you were charming when you refused me, you should have said something genuine, like you're very enamored with me or something like that." "Talk to a psychiatrist, Mr. Stark." Colonel James Roddy, standing on the sidelines, was practically on the verge of sympathizing a little with egomaniacal Tony Stark. This brunette classical beauty looked so gentle and delicate, who would have thought that she would have a talent for mouthpiece that was not inferior to Tony's. However, it would obviously not be Tony Stark if he gave up so easily, "Why don't I give you a day to think about it, and when I get back from Kuwait, how about you move into my place in Malibu Beach?" At that moment, the phone rang for Pepper, the female assistant, from the captain of Tony's private jet, apparently to rush the much delayed passenger. Tony raised an eyebrow, "That's funny, that's my plane, it's supposed to wait for me, what's the point of calling it a private jet if it takes off before I get there." Pepper and Colonel Roddy: He looks arrogant and cocky and owes a beating, but you can't really find anything to say against him. Margaret wasn't interested in standing between the U.S. military and a bunch of Stark Industries executives and tangling with Tony Stark, "Sorry, my assistant is waiting outside the airport, have a good time." With that, she was about to turn and leave, but was blocked by Tony, "Assistant? The big dumb guy in the suit?" "You are a little hostile to men over six feet tall?" Margo raised an eyebrow. "That's not true, I think my brain is much sexier than theirs," he leaned in close to Margaret, his voice low, "except that he seems to have some connection to an official organization with a funny name." Before Margot could ask him what it was, the other man delivered a kiss on the cheek, his lips leaving with a disingenuous inquiry, "May I?" Tony Stark, with big caramel-colored eyes, said sincerely, "If you don't like it, you can give it back." Seriously, he's flirty and cocky, but in a way that seems extraordinarily charming, even cute. Right now, for example, the corners of Margaret's mouth quirked up slightly at his string of displays. She was full of classical beauty, even revealing a hint of oriental mystery, a charm unique only to French women. Margaret's wild and crazy audition performance had shaken Tony to his core, but at this point, her fawn-like eyes amazed him more than ever. What was it about her, just a smile, that sultry and genuine flash of charisma at the same time, that could drive a man crazy. She'd better not smile like that at anyone in the future, just look at the circle of people surrounding her, even Pepper, the woman, couldn't take her eyes off her. Tony cleared his throat unobtrusively, "I'll tell you about that comically named organization when I get back. " He added, "Of course, if you'd like to move into Mabry all the better of course." Margaret ignored his last comment and waved gracefully, "Goodbye, Mr. Stark." Tony walked very reluctantly toward the private jet not far away, not forgetting to turn around and remind Margaret, "Don't forget my serious and proper offer." Margaret thought that Mr. Stark's idea of "serious" might be a little different from normal humans. But as she watched the back of this lovable egomaniac, an inexplicable emotion swept over her, causing her to almost call out Tony Stark's name. It would have seemed odd, and there was no chance that the gentleman would have mistaken it for her actually falling in love for him. It would add to Margaret's already foggy life, and-- Thinking about all her dead lovers, Margaret wasn't about to send another innocent life to death. Besides, she might not even call Stark nice, she just thinks he's kind of cute. Like a big, arrogant and untouchable cat who unexpectedly seemed trustworthy. Margaret watched as the private jet of the CEO of Stark Industries rolled into a gale and quickly disappeared from sight. Instead, she turned away and returned to her private apartment in Century City. In fact, she didn't let the suspicious assistant pick her up. An official organization with a funny name? Life was still full of surprises. ------------------------------------------ Margaret is talking to her agent at the CAA president's office in Century City, Los Angeles, at 8 a.m. "Margot, CAA, along with Miramax Studios, is going all out to run a Best Actress Oscar nomination for you." Brian Lord, Hollywood's gold agent, was spirited, "The Story of Adele Hugo will be released in theaters on December 27th, and you'll be making history at that awards dinner at the Sacred Auditorium next March." It's not that Brian Lord is overly conceited, as a real big shot in Hollywood, he has teamed up with the Weinstein brothers and running a nomination is obviously not a difficult task. And regardless of the outcome before the dust settles, Margaret, at just nineteen years old, will be the youngest nominee in the Best Actress Oscar category to date. And if fortunate enough to win, the name Margaret Ajani will make huge waves in Hollywood. Of course, much of Brian Lord and the Weinstein brothers' confidence comes from Margaret's gifted acting skills. Miramax Studios, which picked up the North American distribution, will naturally run the movie to an Oscar nomination. Just as big productions don't ensure much of a return, most indie films usually lose their heads, although there are classic success stories out there. But if nominated for an Oscar, or lucky enough to scoop up an award or two, it can be used for a second release, and the millions spent on public relations and lobbying can easily be recouped. Brian Lord reminded her, "You should have an American boyfriend." While Hollywood brings together the world's movie talent, even if it seems to be as close as it is, there is still sometimes a bit of an unspoken rejection of exotic actors. The easiest solution is to find an American partner. Take for example that ex-boyfriend of Ajani's, an Englishman who left behind his dabbling Frenchman and traveled across the ocean to join up with an American. "Anyone?" Margot showed no repulsion or resentment. Hollywood's first priority was profit first, and the law of money was always the golden rule. The most convincing romance in Hollywood is of course when partners fall in love over a movie, but Margaret has worked with two British actors so far who are clearly not suitable. As for the less-than-reliable billionaire suitor, he's not a good choice, and the gold-digging girl's bad reputation is hard to clear. "The boyfriend candidate isn't urgent for now," Brian pulled out a file, "why don't we look at the new script first." Margaret unfolded the file and looked at the word mummy and raised an eyebrow. "In addition to independent films, commercial value is an equally important focus that a Hollywood actor cannot afford to give up." Brian Lord explained the filming details of this movie for her, "The movie will be filmed in May next year, and is tentatively scheduled for April 1999. The male lead has been confirmed to be Brendan Fraser, who has recently become a big hit because of Forest Tarzan, the total funding of eighty million dollars for this movie is not high, but it is trustworthy in terms of creativity and special effects production, and it will be a good commercial movie." He added, "Of course, if you don't want to star in a commercial movie, I'll continue to approach independent films for you, Margot, the decision is yours."
