The guardian and his last chance. Realization

XVII

I heard something. But I didn´t care at all. It didn´t feel like a threat to my life or anyone else eather. With a laud huff, I turned around on the spot. Snuggling down on the furn pillow I had made. It is soft. But not as a modern one. As said I don´t care. It fulfill it´s purpose well enough for me. And that is good enough. Once again I hear that sound. Once more I let out a huff. More irritated now. Still not making any effort to get up. I want to sleep some more. I just want to continue to sleep. Again I turn around. The sound doens´t go away. I hear that the source go away. That makes me glad, real glad. Becouse it means that I can still sleep som more hours. As I feel the slumber start to take me in to it´s arms, the fate´s plan crash down on me. The plan hits my nose, before the impact does. The scent is not matured but is still making my heart race and my mouth watering. It was weak but grew stronger before the impact on my body. It was the smell of wildhoney and fresh mountain dew. One eye open. In the corner of my sight, I see a child. The childs face is splitted by a huge smile. I turn under the small body, getting giggles as I do it.

"Goodmorning, Hanna." I say groggy and croaking.

She tilts her head to the side. "Dragol." Her eyes are filled with mischief. "It is not morning." I sit slowly up. "It is past noon."

I shake my head in disbelief. Becouse it was a long time ago, that I overslept like this. Some centuries ago, at least. She steps of my lap, and run out of my shelter. I hear that she is laughing. As I crawl out, I hear her laudly say. "I woke him, mom!" My heart skipped a beat, from the proud she had in her voice. Outside the shelter, I streatch. My muscles are a bit tense. And the joints in my body are stiff from the night. I smack, trying to get rid of the dryness in my mouth. Slow I scan around me. I see Jacob and his family. Eric and Clarice with their baby, she is radiating happiness. She really shines when she looks down on her baby girl, she holds in her arms. One more car arrives. Another of those big and laud pick ups. From it Jackson and his mate Sa´hara, stepped out. The she wolf turned around, and lifted out a small toddler. Small for a Wolf, at least. I rub my face, to wake up. They all look at me.

"So you have woken up now." Jacob laughs.

I walk with him to his truck. "Why are you guys here?" I help him with lifting out more chairs and tables. 

He gives me a smile to a answer. I hate secrets. Really hate it. Hate it with great fury and flames. I know it is contradiction. Indeed it is, becouse I have my secrets. As we were setting up a long table, I saw that Jackson and Eric were lifting a big barbeque from Jackson truck. In the corner of my eyes, I see the women start to prepare dishes. I am in state of confusion and chock. What is happening here? I know we had said that once a week, we would not work on the farm. Atleast together. I continued to do my work. I was brought out of my thoughts, when something cold hit me on the side of my neck. Reflexively I step to my side adn turn around with my hands up. My hands I lowered as I saw the grin on Jacob´s face. I shook my head. And took the cold beer bottle from his outstreatched hand. I take a big sip.

Jacob rised on brow and asked. "Why where you still sleeping?"

I open my mouth to answer but it is a small voice that "His clothes are muddy."

I look down on my clothes. They are dirty with mud, dirt and some grass. When I look up again, all of the wolfs are looking at me.

"I was to tired yesterday to change!" I ,lied, excused. And walked back to my shelter. Inside on my knees, I strip out of these clothes. After taking out some clean pants and shirt, I sighed. I need to make the washing soon. I held my shirt in my hand, when I left the shelter. I shook my head. And walked to the stream. In the cold water, I wash of my arms and upper body. As I am sitting on my knees, I bend down and crash my head thru water surface. Water flood of my hair, when I rose from the stream´s bank. Like a dog or a wolf, I shake my head from water. Making the water fly, everwhere. My bodyheat rise, at my will. As it would do if I shifted or got ready to do battle. The excess water vapour of my body. As I turned around to walk back, I smell the destinct scent of charcoal burning. 

I took in the sight, with a smile. Infront of my future home, are the families of my friends. The barbeque is lit. Side dishes are on the tables. I walk slowly up to them all. The women smile big at me. As do the males. The children are running around. Plarying tag, it seems.

Mirai looks up at me, as most do. "So say why where you sleeping so long?"

"I did some work on the garden yersterday evening." I say, looking at the children playing. "The time flew away. I had stop, when the moon was high."

The women look at each other. And then nods. I walk up to the males, after gripping my beer again. They laughs at something. They gave me a glanse. I shrugged it off. On a small table by the bbq, sits plates with meat, sausage, cob of corn and some other veggies that will be put on the barbeque. I smile, "Are we feeding a army today!?" They know that I am joking. "Why the feast?"

"Becouse we felt like it!" Jackson smirks. 

I smirk back at him. "Felt like it." I nod my head. Taking a sip of my beer. "Why here then?"

"We knew that you would work on the farm." Jacob smiled. 

Eric give the coal a look. Even I can se that the ember. "We all, wanted to give you a day´s rest." Eric pick up a pincer an steer the coal a bit, even the ember. "So here we are. Having a great feast on a great day."

As the coal got ready, we started to grill. Maybe they are right. I am in need of a day resting. Indeed. I have worked long days to get the farm started once more. So I will accept their grace. And my stomach agrees with me, as it rumbles loudly at the wonderful scents that start to fill the air.

What the f**k have I done to earn these friends of mine. But still I am bit reserved around them, becouse of what happened in the past. But I will gladly accept their friendship.
