554 Words

Chapter 41Abu blinked furiously, trying to adjust to the low lighting in the cold concrete box. The room was spinning, and he could feel warm blood dripping down the back of his head. His skull felt like it had been shattered, and his thoughts were running like a freight train. He needed to find out what was happening and why he was in this situation, but as he stared at the barrel of the pistol in front of him, the only sounds he could manage were unintelligible groans. Michael stepped closer, bringing the pistol close enough to Abu’s face that he could smell the oil used when it was last cleaned. “I said, who the hell are you? Don’t make me ask again.” Abu went to scramble backward in an attempt to escape his attacker but considered his position fast enough to stop himself from moving.
