Chapter 13. a long days glance

As I made my way around back to our favorite table that overlooks the beach and ocean I seen Jake and Missi were already there as I got closer to the table Jake said about time you got here we ordered your drink ahead of time we know you love your iced hazelnut oat Milk coffee. As Missi looks at me and says Okay so spill how was your day? My day was interesting. I found out Darrel Jefferson isn't really Darrel Jefferson he Is the Missing human boy Darrel Logan but they don't want it to come out that there is actually a human here on earth before the planned date. They also brought his family here to meet him and explained everything and Mayble Jefferson her son Darrel he passed away when he was little because of his dad and I guess the two boys could pass as twins is why Mable Stole Darrel and turned out Darrel has a twin sister Harper and a younger brother named Charter And an older half brother named Ray. As I finished telling Jake and Missi About my day Jake smiled and said it must be super cool to have the ability to turn invisible. I smiled and said someday it is but then there are other times you see or hear things you wish you didn't like. I also saw Alonso on a date today. Missi and Jake couldn't help but give Kali a sad look and Jake said are you sure it was a date? Maybe he was having dinner with one of his siblings? as Kali fought back tears and told her brother it was definitely a date he Leaned across the table and was kissing the girl I saw him with. Suddenly Missi got a sad but yet angry look as she said girl forget him you deserve better than him. So Jake what did you do today asked Kali eagerly trying to change the subject. Well I tried to get the work trucking running today and well I didn't get it running and to be honest I think we just need a new delivery vehicle. And I'm so glad you Two left me a note this morning because I almost Forgot till I looked at my phone as I was leaving work. As Missi laughted and said Somethings never change Jake, if we didn't remind you of our plans you'd forget. Today we all confronted Darrel about him seeing all of us and it went okay he wasn't expecting all of us to be together in his living room as Missing wasnot Even halfway done with what She was saying she was Interrupted by Jack from the party as he said excuse me I hope not intruding but I remember you Missi from the party and I just wanted to say you look so beautiful this evening and off Jack went to order a coffee after he was out of ear shot Kali smiled ear to ear as she looked at Missi And said um your not going to just sit here with us are? That guy is interested in you and he's so your type as Jake add Go after him girl he is not bad looking. Before they new it they had Missi Blushing as she looked at her siblings and said are you shire I should? Odd as Jake and Kali said at the same time Yes! Go get him girl were not going anywhere. as Missi Gathered up the confidence and by the time she got up and walked inside to see if Jack was still inside she was disappointed to see he was gone till she remembered he gave her his number so she swiftly walked back to her Siblings and said he was gone but I remember he gave me him number should I text him and see if he wants to go get coffee? Or wanna go see A movie? As the ring around Missi's Finger turned a brown meaning she was either Nervous or Unshire So Kali and Jake helped her with a message that didn't sound to eager so Missi Texted Jack Hey, it was good seeing you this evening. And she stared At her phone eagerly waiting for a response and before she new it she got a response as Jack texted back it was good seeing you as well and then a second message came Through from Jack that said would wanna go get a drink with me? Missi responded yes before she new it Jack asked her if next Friday at 7 was good with her? And she replied sounds like a date. Jack said okay I'll pick you up at 7. As Kali smiled and said oo now we got to go shopping for a date outfit for you and Missi got a big ear to ear smile and said I know and I will need your help picking out something cute but sexy and your pretty good at that. Kali Couldn't help but smile as she said yeah I am. so tomorrow we can go shopping. Jake said that he and Kaleb had dinner plans tomorrow and before they new it he confessed he was kind of nervous because of last time broke up it was messy abd didn't go well. As Kali looked at Jake and said but things are different this time you Guys are adults now and not in high school so you never know till you try but give it another try. You don't wanna look back and say I wish I had given this a chance Again because sometimes you don't get another chance. Before they new it is was closing time at the Cafe so Kali Teleported Jake back with her as Missi Teleported herself back home. As Saturday afternoon arrived, Jake eagerly prepared for his date with Kaleb at Whole Latte Love Dinner. The aroma of freshly ground coffee beans wafted through the air in his room as he chose the perfect outfit for his evening as he smiled to himself in the mirror feeling confident and nervous all at once. Jake had known Kaleb for a while, but this was the first time in a long time that they would be spending time together. Jake and Kaleb had been friends since they started school and they had dated back in high school. The chemistry between them was undeniable, and finally, Kaleb had asked him out to dinner. As Jake completed his final touches, he glanced at the clock, it was almost time to leave. He made his way to his truck and started it up. The engine roared to life, but the pleasure of driving remained in check as he slowly backed out of the garage with his heart racing. His truck swerved slightly as he headed for the coffeehouse, his thoughts clouded by anticipation. Whole Latte Love sat in between the ballpark and the local shopping center, a hub of activity. To ease his nerves, Jake decided to stop by his favorite coffee spot Impresso Espresso Cafe, a quiet little nook with the best beach view. He parked and grabbed a cup before making his way to the entrance. Just as he was about to enter, he heard a rushing noise behind him. Jake quickly turned to see what the comotion was and to his surprise, it was Kaleb approaching with a nervous smile. Kaleb embraced him tightly, "Oh my god, I'm so sorry. I was watching you and lost track of time. I didn't mean to startle you." Jake gasped before relaxing, "It's okay. I was just a little unsure." "May I carry your coffee for you?" Kaleb asked, not letting go of his embrace. "Sure," Jake said, "I just need to put on my seatbelt." They made their way to Kaleb's luxury SUV. They were both a little on edge about the evening to come, the date a rare opportunity to not only spend time together but also reveal the depth of their attraction that remained all these years later. Kaleb drove in a slow, cautious manner, and as their destination drew nearer, the conversation became lighter and more relaxed. Jake expressed his awe at the awesomenessof his SUV despiteall the garbage on the floor, which made Kaleb chuckle as he stated, "I'm not a total mess, but big, flashy cars have a way of drawing attention and I have a busy schedule but I do make time for people and things I enjoy” as Kaleb leaned over and brushing his lips against Jake's cheek. "I'm really looking forward to this." And with that, the SUV pulled into the parking lot of Whole Latte Love and they stepped out, hand in hand. The night had only begun.
