Chapter 37. The Mall Confessions

1685 Words
The next day the sisters got ready and teleported to the mall as they had planned. The neon lights of the mall buzzed and flickered, a stark contrast to the dull gray of the late Friday afternoon. Kali and Missi, sisters and actresses, strutted through the automatic doors, their heels clicking in sync on the polished floor. They were a sight to behold, both blessed with curves that commanded attention and a confidence that came with years of performing. "Missi, I've been dying to tell you something," Kali started, her eyes scanning the food court, looking for a quiet spot. She was wearing her favorite red dress, the one that hugged her body in all the right places. It was a stark contrast to Missi's elegant, flowing blue sundress. Missi smiled, her eyes sparkling with a secret of her own. "Me too, sis. Let's grab a table first." They settled down with a couple of coffees, the noise of the crowd providing a strange sense of privacy. Missi took a deep breath, her hands trembling slightly. "Kali, Jack proposed!" she blurted out, her face flushing with excitement. "We're getting married!" Kali's eyes widened, her mouth forming a perfect 'O'. "s**t, Missi, that's... that's huge!" she exclaimed, her mind racing. She was happy for her sister, truly, but there was a twinge of something else. Envy? No, not quite. She shook her head, pushing the feeling aside. "Congratulations, Missi. That's amazing." Missi beamed, her eyes shining with unshed tears. "Thanks, Kali. I can't believe it's finally happening." Kali reached across the table, squeezing Missi's hand. "You deserve it, sis. Really." She took a deep breath, her own news bubbling up inside her. "But, there's something I need to tell you too." Missi tilted her head, curiosity piqued. "Oh yeah? What's up?" Kali bit her lip, her heart pounding in her chest. She hadn't planned to tell Missi like this, but she couldn't keep it in any longer. "I'm pregnant, Missi," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. Missi's jaw dropped, her coffee forgotten. "What? Kali, are you serious?" Kali nodded, a small smile playing on her lips. "Yeah, I am. I found out last week." Missi let out a low whistle, leaning back in her chair. "Well, s**t, Kali. That's... that's big." Kali laughed, a sound filled with both nervousness and relief. "Yeah, it is. But you know what? I'm happy. I'm really f*****g happy, Missi." Missi smiled, her eyes softening. "Then I'm happy for you, Kali. We've got a lot to celebrate, don't we?” As they clinked coffee cups, the noise of the mall faded away, leaving just the two sisters and their shared secrets. The future was uncertain, but in that moment, everything was perfect. They were sisters, best friends, and now, more than ever, they needed each other. And that was enough. For now. As the sunset Kali and Missi Teleported to Impresso Espresso, Tiffany Flew herself and Nathan, Jojo Teleported Ryan ruby and herself, coco Flew herself and Jose, and Kaleb and Jake drove Over as they all arrived they walked in Josh Smiled and said i have the orders ready and your tables are ready as Kali decided She was going to pay for eveyones drinks. As Ruby went next door to the arcade which she loved playing their. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, mingling with the soft chatter of patrons and the gentle clinking of cups at Impressive Espresso as they all settled into their seats, Kali got the biggest smile as she seen Josh bring The drinks over on a cart as he smiled And said “I've invested in something smart for when you guys all come in and it saves me many trips bringing drinks over” as Missi Teased Josh with a smile and said “but now we won't get your valuable input On our conversation now” and Josh gave her a wink and said “i can still add in my valuable input anytime” as josh headed back to The counter. Kali looks Everyone at the table and said “i'm pregnant by Alonso but he decided he No Longer wants Anything to do with the baby or the pregnancy or as he says that thing” And Missi not even missing a beat says “ psh Forget him I'll be your baby daddy you don't need him” as Nathan said Tiffi and i will find out tonight when we get home if were going to be having a baby as well” as everyone gave them hopeful praise as Missi said “Jack and i are getting married” and thats when they all congratulated here and then asked where the man of the hour was as Missi smiled and said he's out hunting right now. As Ryan “ i've been learning to control My new power of slowing Time” and Jake "said what you got a new power? So I'll be getting a new power. We have the same powers.” as Ryan said “yeah it's kind of cool honestly” and Jojo said “I've been working on a new line of clothes and i dont wanna spoil the surprise but Dela Is going to be walking the runway in one of my outfits” and Of course Josh came over as soon as it died down and said “ and im still working here! But most of all were adding a play area for kids because the owner thought so man people have kids so why not be the first and only coffee place to have a child play area for all ageas” Kali said “thats pretty cool” as Nathan said “ now that you mention it ive never seen a coffee place with a child play area” as Josh looked at Missi and said “is jack poaching? Because i didn't think their was hunting in August?” As Missi laughed and said “of course he's not poaching! Jack and his brother Noah are coyote hunting and yes its legal” Ryan churping in of course because hunting is one of his favorite things and he gracefully added and telling the rest of us all about coyote hunting that its legal in 49 states and soem states have year round coyote hunting that you can sell the pelt or some people just leave it when it is. As Josh said “oh okay sorry missi for the accusation” as Missi smiled and said “Josh your a good friend and its okay, ibget it you were just looking out for me” As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow across the café, Missi leaned back in her chair, a thoughtful expression crossing her face. As she said "You know, I’ve been thinking a lot about family lately. With my engagement and now Kali’s pregnancy... it feels like everything is changing." As Kali nodded, her heart swelling with affection for her sister. And said "It is. But change can be good. It means growth, new beginnings. We’re all starting new chapters in our lives." Missi smiled, a hint of mischief in her eyes as she said "And we’ll always have each other’s backs. No matter what." "Absolutely," Kali agreed, her voice firm. "We’re family first, and everything else comes after that." Just then, a familiar face appeared at their table. It was Brittany, their mother, her face lighting up as she spotted them. "Well, look who it is! All my favorite people!" she exclaimed, giving each of them a warm hug. "Mom!" they chorused, laughter bubbling up again. Meanwhile as night set in and the stars Light up the dark sky and the warm summer night air nipped at Jack's nose as he stepped out of his rusty old truck, his hunting rifle slung over his shoulder. He looked over at Noah, his older brother, who was fiddling with his own gun, checking and rechecking the safety. Jack chuckled, "You know, for a guide, you're awfully nervous around guns." Noah shot him a glare. "Just because I'm good with a compass doesn't mean I'm comfortable with a f*****g rifle in my hands," he retorted. Jack just grinned and started walking towards the tree line. The forest was alive with the sounds of crickets chirping, owls hooting, leaves crunching under their boots. They walked in silence for a while, until Jack couldn't hold it in any longer. "I asked Missi to marry me," he said, not pausing in his stride. Noah stopped in his tracks, his eyes wide. "You what?" Jack turned to face him, a smirk playing on his lips. "You heard me. I asked her, and she said yes." Noah stared at him for a moment before a wide grin spread across his face. "Well, f**k me sideways," he laughed, clapping Jack on the back. "Never thought I'd see the day when my little brother would settle down." Jack chuckled, shaking his head. "Neither did I, to be honest. But Missi... she's something else and well i couldn'tlet her getaway because if i didn't i'd be regeting it the rest of my life because you don't always get a second chance." Noah nodded, his grin fading slightly. "She is. You're a lucky bastard, you know that?" Jack looked into the distance, his mind elsewhere. "I do," he said, his voice softer. "I really do." Just then, a rustling in the bushes caught their attention. They both froze, their hunting instincts kicking in. Jack raised his rifle, his eyes scanning the area. A moment later, a good size coyote stepped into view. Jack looked at Noah, a silent exchange passing between them. They had their target. As they stalked the the coyote, the conversation about Missi and the upcoming week was put on hold. But Jack knew it was far from over. This trip was about more than just hunting. It was about brotherhood, about sharing secrets and dreams. And he was looking forward to every f*****g minute of it.
