Chapter 50; what's up with alonso part 1

1164 Words
It started innocently enough. A chance meeting at a club, a stolen glance across a crowded room, and then… her. Isabella. She was everything fiery, bold, unafraid. She pulled me into a world I never knew existed, a world of fast cars, late nights, and whispered deals. A world of gangs. I was in too deep before I even realized it. The thrill, the adrenaline, it was intoxicating. But there was a price. It was Isabella or Kali, the mother of my child. I’d met Kali before I met Isabella, a sweet, kind woman who had no idea about my double life. When Kali told me she was pregnant, a wave of fear washed over me. This life… this wasn’t a life for a baby. So I made a choice. A terrible choice. I cut Kali out of my life, But the guilt gnawed at me. I couldn’t completely erase her from my life. Every other week, I’d call or text, asking about the baby, inquiring about diapers, wipes, formula. Little did she know, I was buying things, stashing them away in my apartment. I was a liar, a coward, and a terrible father. Isabella, oblivious to my secret life with Kali and the baby, was demanding and possessive. She wanted all of me, and she didn’t understand my need to keep a part of myself hidden. The tension between us was a constant undercurrent, a simmering pot about to boil over. I was trapped, caught between two worlds, two women, and a child I desperately wanted to protect. The life I’d chosen was slowly destroying me, tearing me apart from the inside out. I needed a way out, a way to reclaim my life, my love for Kali, and my chance to be a real father to my child. But how could I escape the clutches of Isabella and the gang without jeopardizing everything? The weight of my secrets was crushing me, and I knew I couldn't keep living this lie forever. The question was, how could I break free? I knew I could be better so I wanted out of the gang life. But I didn't want Kali or my baby wrapped up in this life. However tonight The night was young, but the streets of Silverwood were already buzzing with the usual mix of adrenaline and danger. Cole, a seasoned police officer with eyes that had seen too much, was cruising down the boulevard with his new partner, Julien. Julien was a fresh-face at Silverwood but a seasoned officer at Ludel Police Department, eager to prove himself, but Cole knew the streets were a different beast altogether. They were still getting used to each other, but the call they just received was going to test their mettle. "Dispatch, we have a 10-49 in progress on the 7th and Vine intersection," the radio crackled with the dispatcher's voice. "Two vehicles, a blue truck and a black sedan, racing at high speeds." Cole's grip tightened on the steering wheel. "Copy that. We're en route, code 3." Julien's eyes widened. "Code 3? Lights and sirens?" "Yep," Cole replied, flipping the switch that brought the patrol car to life with flashing lights and blaring sirens. The car surged forward, weaving through traffic with precision. "We need to catch these idiots before someone gets hurt." They sped through the city, the sirens echoing off the tall buildings and cutting through the night. The blue truck came into view, its tail lights disappearing around a corner. Cole followed, his heart pounding in his chest. The black sedan was nowhere to be seen, likely having ditched the race or crashed. "Run the plates," Cole ordered, his voice steady despite the adrenaline coursing through his veins. Julien quickly pulled out his tablet and typed in the license plate number DRGNSL4YR. "The truck belongs to Alonso Cortes. By any chance would that be the same Alonso you talked about?" Cole's heart skipped a beat. "Yes, that's Alonso Kali's baby daddy. What the hell is he doing racing down the streets?" Julien looked at him, concern etched on his face. "Should we be careful?" Cole nodded, his jaw clenched. "Yeah, let's be careful. We don't want to make any mistakes." They pulled up behind the blue truck, which had come to a halt at a red light. Cole and Julien stepped out of the patrol car, their hands resting on their holsters. Cole approached the driver's side window, while Julien covered the passenger side. "Step out of the vehicle, hands where I can see them," Cole commanded, his voice firm. Alonso, a tall, Average man, stepped out of the truck. His eyes were wide with a mix of fear and defiance. "Officers, I can explain—" as the passenger Isabella, an average height female, stepped out of the passenger side. "Save it," Julien interrupted, his voice stern. "You were racing, and that's a serious offense. We need to see your license and registration." Alonso's hands shook slightly as he reached into his pocket and pulled out his wallet. He handed Julien his license and registration, his eyes darting between the two officers and then back to Isabella. "Alonso, what the hell are you doing?" Cole asked, his voice low. "You know better than to be involved in something like this." Alonso's gaze met Cole's, and for a moment, there was a silent understanding. "I... I can't explain. It's complicated." Cole's mind raced back to the days when he and Kali were together. They had a good thing going, but Alonso had always been a wildcard. Kali had never known about Alonso's involvement in gang activities, and Cole had always suspected that Alonso was hiding something. So Cole had used his power to read Alonso's mind and he got a clean photo of what Alonso was really up to "You both need to come with us," Julien said, his voice firm. "We need to take you both down to the station for questioning." Alonso nodded, his hands still shaking. "I understand." Meanwhile Isabella got an angry look on her face “yelling and walking over to Cole, I didn't do anything I was just the passenger I should be free to go!” as Julien followed her over to the drivers side as Cole said with a stern voice “ Street racing is regarded as a criminal offense under SIlverwood law This covers any one or a combination of the following: • driving a car involved in a street race, defined as a race in which there is a competition, an acceleration contest or exhibition of speed; • knowingly being a passenger in a car used in a street race; • slowing down or stopping other traffic so that a race can take place; • helping in the organization of a street race, which includes collecting money for it or as a consequence of it.” as Isabella stopped yelling and making a scean. Cole Handcuffed Isabella as Julien handcuffed Alonso.
